Visionary cabbie warms netizens’ hearts

Awesome! A good news story about cabbies and service dogs. Too bad we have to go all the way to Malaysia for it.

PETALING JAYA: A taxi driver and an ardent animal lover touched thousands of hearts when he offered on his Facebook page a ride for ‘any blind man with a guide dog.’

Mohd Kamil Affendy Hashim, 32, was inspired to post his phone number after watching a short film directed by Jason Lim entitled ‘Are You Blind’ that related how sight-impaired businessman Stevens Chan and his seeing eye dog Lashawn were always chased out of shopping malls and prevented from boarding taxis and buses.

Mohd Kamil Affendy, also known as Eddie, also posted the message: “I’m Malay and a Muslim. A taxi driver in KL. I stay in Setapak. I support guide dogs. Any blind man with a guide dog who needs a ride, their family and friends can always SMS or WhatsApp me.”
