Switzerland 'could grant Edward Snowden asylum if he testifies against NSA'

Switzerland would grant Edward Snowden asylum if he revealed the extent of espionage activities by the US government, recommendations by the Swiss Attorney General reportedly conclude.

According to Swiss newspaper Sonntags Zeitung, an official has said that Mr Snowden should be guaranteed safe entry and residency in the country, in return for his knowledge on America’s intelligence activities.

.......

Mr Snowden’s participation could be part of criminal proceedings or as part of a parliamentary inquiry, Swiss paper Le Matin says, and that extradition would be rejected if the country thinks it is being sought on political grounds or if the former assistant at the CIA faces the death penalty at home.

Which is expected now, since Snowden got that ball rolling last year by openly whoring his "expertise" to anyone who would take him in...

And I thought Russia already gave him asylum?

You know how that looks, right??

I thought he was self-sufficient financially *just* from his speaking fees? That's what all the Snowden fans have been screaming at me on Twitter...

So which is it?

But you knew that.

I've made absolutely no comment on any testimony whatsoever. Good job trying to wiggle that in there though!

I think its pretty damn interesting that a European country is willing to risk American wrath in order to hear what Snowden has to say.

Damn interesting. ...

The Carlyle Group Has Made $2 Billion Off Of Booz Allen
http://www.forbes.com/sites/nathanvardi/2013/06/10/the-carlyle-group-has-made-2-billion-off-of-booz-allen/

In 2008, the Carlyle Group made a large $910 million investment to buy a majority stake in Booz Allen’s government consulting business. The deal saw Booz Allen’s big government advisory unit, which produced most of the firm’s revenue, split off from its corporate consulting group, on the eve of the financial crisis.

But Washington-based Carlyle, which has a long and successful history doing deals involving government contractors, has really made the Booz Allen deal work. It has been an amazing transaction for Carlyle. The private equity firm has made $2 billion in realized and unrealized profits on the Booz Allen Hamilton deal so far. Its $910 million investment is now worth $3 billion.

Which was kind of backwards. You should find evidence of illegality and THEN steal the proof.

mostly so I can tell who is down with the surveillance state we are building, and those who are not.

I have to give them points for creativity ... they are able to zero in on his slightest defect of character while simultaneously demanding the characteristics of sainthood, all while completely ignoring (or denying) what we have learned from these disclosures. Which takes us to this principle, which we see in operation every day:

No one dare blow the whistle on what is clearly over reach by the defense and intelligence communities without first achieving independent wealth and sainthood. Mere mortals should not presume to deeds of that sort, and should just be good little citizens and keep the Masters' secrets. Mere mortals who dare so disturb the peace of the MIC should "face the music", which in today's America can mean anything up to and including torture. Failure to do so establishes a lack of good faith, you see. Martyrdom is required.

I am wondering how these people will react should these powers of near total surveillance fall into the hands of a Republican executive branch? Will they still be advocates of that apparatus? Or will they suddenly shift to protest? We shall see.

For my part, let me make this clear to the DU community and to any of my former employers who might be observing. I am NOT down with the surveillance state. I will NOT support any candidate from any party who supports its development and expansion, regardless of their record with respect to other issues of importance to me. This is a deal breaker for me. If the Democratic Party as a whole becomes supportive of this beast, I will have no choice but to leave the Democratic Party.

This my line in the sand. I will not cross it. I will not work with or for anyone who does. And I know a very great many fellow Democrats who feel similarly.

You have to know that they have had access to this info and probably know everything there is to know.

Snowden is allergic to the truth and is prone to ridiculous exaggeration.

This seems more like a PR move than an interest in actual info.
