People who are usually too stupid to get real jobs tend to gravitate toward school administration jobs.*
Turning a dispute over a girl using a cell phone into a police matter?!
I'll also say it again: I want fewer cops, cut their pay and take away their collective bargaining rights.

*Not talking about secretaries, office clerks, etc. They are OK.

Must be nice to live in a binary world.
And the asterisked exceptions remind me of some of the racist classmates I grew up with who'd say horrible things about an entire group but when pressed would exempt the stars of our local major league sports teams. Even as a kid, I knew something was deeply wrong with this. "What about...?" I would ask, mentioning the name of the team's current batting leader. "Oh," the kid would explain with an air of authority. "He's one of the good ones."
Some fields just seem to attract the best and worst of society. It's a pity that the worst are often the ones we notice while the best continue their conscientious efforts in relative anonymity. It probably doesn't feel great to selflessly work your ass off with very little recognition or pay and have people who don't even know you declare that you suck.

(9,126 posts)If we stopped treating schools like businesses and focused on the education of students, we could probably attract more good administrators.

(5,756 posts)Just like there are some damn good cops and teachers there are some damned good school administrators.
My former partner was the principal at an elementary school was plagued by poverty. Something like 72% free and reduced lunch. He was an excellent administrator and turned that school around. From failing to passing math and reading.
Don't paint all of them with the same brush as the idiots at that HS that can't even handle a simple discipline issue.

(6,604 posts)and other public school administrators in my time in IT support. Not one fit your description.
I'm not saying shit doesn't happen, or that the field doesn't include its share of assholes, but really?

There are lots of good Dem's in Texas.

(9,984 posts)more, and worse, Repubs. And idiots, apparently. My niece moved there because her BF was teaching at North Texas. She couldn't stand the place and left after 6 months. Told him he could follow her, or not. He didn't have tenure, so he's looking.

(24,330 posts)Cuz I'm pretty sure I could broad brush the people in that industry quite negatively and demand you guys lose your rights as well
on note: I'm not in education. I just find the support for this@sinine thread to be pathetic

(146,318 posts)It works a treat in keeping your posts from sounding too generalized to be believed. Broad brush attacks on an entire group of people are rarely accurate.
Thanks.
