'Why the GOP should abandon the minority vote' (NOT from The Onion)

It's a serious article written by a political writer on Examiner.com! Well, there you have it. The Republican Party has become so extremist and hateful that even this Tea Party Patriot, Dan Poole, has admitted that the party should just throw in the towel and give up trying to recruit minority voters:

...if Obama is going to bank his reelection on explicitly appealing to non-white voters, than why shouldn’t Mitt Romney and the Republican Party bank their reelection on explicitly appealing to white voters, which comprise over 90 percent of their base?

Southeast Michigan’s Mike Brownfield made the argument on Monday that the GOP should appeal to Hispanics by emphasizing how Obama’s economic policies have completely failed them. He also argued that the Hispanic voting bloc is one that the GOP needs to tap into in order to secure electoral viability.

Hispanic Republicans such as Senator Marco Rubio of Florida have made similar arguments.

Here’s the problem: it’s a pipe dream that will never become reality. Not now, and certainly not in the future. Hispanics are just as liberal (read: anti-American) when it comes to economics as they are when it comes to immigration.

(You might know Poole from the MediaMatters.org comment sections as Poole1dan or for him labeling the Trayvon Martin killing as "proof of the failure of diversity".)

Also, I had to leave this comment: "...citing sources like the Council of Conservative Citizens and occidental observer is just like citing the Institute for Creation Research in an article about biology or the Church of Scientology in an article about physics." (Yes, Poole really did cite the CCC while whining about how the media is ignoring "black on white crime" in Tulsa after the arrest of the serial killers over the weekend. Apparently, to him, the very idea that hate crimes happen against minorities = anti-white bigotry.)

Isn't it sad that America has gone from the days when Martin Luther King Jr. could proudly vote for Dwight Eisenhower (a Republican) for President to the modern GOP tolerating ethnic put-downs and demanding cultural authoritarianism?

The GOP underestimates the damage that educated and enlightened people of all races, are doing to their chances of being elected.
