http://www.theguardian.com/politics/2014/sep/06/scots-radical-new-deal-save-the-union"The people of Scotland are to be offered a historic opportunity to devise a federal future for their country before next year's general election, it emerged on Saturday night, as a shock new poll gave the campaign for independence a narrow lead for the first time.
Amid signs of panic and recrimination among unionist ranks about the prospects of a yes vote on 18 September, the Observer has learned that a devolution announcement designed to halt the nationalist bandwagon is due to be made within days by the anti-independence camp.
The plan, in the event of a no vote, is that people from all parts of Scottish society rather than just politicians would be invited to take part in a Scottish conference or convention that would decide on further large-scale transfers of power from London to Holyrood."

Cameron et al are lurching from crisis to crisis.

(7,804 posts)2. I'm sitting here right now as a very nearly *ex* "devo max supporter.
For fuck's sake.
The devo max option was explicitly vetoed by Cameron + Co at the beginning of the referendum process ages ago NOW it looks like the Independence campaign will win and NOW it's back on the table?
It's totally ridiculous. How can we trust them? If it was a serious proposition that they were willing to consider why didn't they offer it up in the first place? There's only one answer - they assumed Salmond was going to lose so they decided to get the boot in early.
Creeps.
How can I NOT vote for independence now?
If I were Scottish I'd vote YES for independence too.

(60,010 posts)4. If Cameron is against independence, all the more reason to vote for it.
I am hoping the reality of the EU is sinking in.
And if Scotland does choose independence, they must never allow the IMF to darken their country.

just for what that will do to Cameron's already lousy legacy.

(7,804 posts)6. I want it to unravel the Tories!
My wildest dream come true....
And seeing how the rats are all running around squealing now that it looks like it might come off, who knows...?
Whatever else happens, the Tories will always be the party that "lost" Scotland.
