While news outlets and commentators have attempted analyze every action of Michael Brown, the unarmed black teen shot to death six times in Ferguson, Missouri two weeks ago, we seem to know very little about his shooter, Ferguson police officer Darren Wilson. Wilson, who just months ago won a commendation in a Town Council ceremony, now remains under the polices protection and hasnt spoken about the incident.
But as the public continues to search for answers, the Washington Post has published a report on Wilsons career, including a brief biography, that offers some insight into Wilsons past.
According to officials interviewed by the Post, Wilson maintained a clean record, but the Post reports that his first job was not an ideal place to learn how to police. He entered the police force in 2009, joining a nearly all-white, 45-member task force that patrolled Jennings, Missouri, a small, impoverished city of 14,000 where the residents were 89 percent African-American. The racial tension was high, and the police were accused of using excessive force against its residents:
Racial tension was endemic in Jennings, said Rodney Epps, an African American city council member.

(14,690 posts)racism fills the air. Not surprised, the cop's actions pretty much let the world know what he is.

(21,925 posts)that there was nothing negative in Wilson's profile as a Ferguson Police Officer. They just took their word for it. "According to officials interviewed by the Post, Wilson maintained a clean record...". We found out last week that no non-lethal altercation reports were kept in an officer's personnel file per department policy. This is atrocious reporting by the Post and responsible journalism would require the Post to mention that no records on police officer incidents were even kept unless someone was killed.
I'm pretty sure we don't have to search for problems involving Darren Wilson in his previous two-year stint in another town. We know from the witnesses in the Brown case and their reports of the disgusting language used by Wilson that he had a foul mouth and a bad attitude.

(14,537 posts)this police department isn't any better.
A lawsuit was filed on Wednesday for the wrongful death of Jason Moore, in 2011.
Moore was mentally ill and running around naked when the police arrived. Officer Kaminski instructed him to raise his hands and walk towards him. As he complied Kaminski tased him and continued to tase him as he was being cuffed, by White.

Then there is the 2009 case where the FPD arrested the wrong man. They beat him and then officer Baird pressed charges for bleeding on his uniform.

White was also implicated in the beating. During this lawsuit it was exposed that the FPD does not keep abuse of force complaints in an officers file. As a matter of fact it seems no one knows where they are kept. Which is why when the Chief Jackson claims I reviewed the officer's file and he has an exemplary record, he can say so in all honesty.
Move onto SLPD, who is investigating the Brown shooting. Major Dan Page was suspended for his hour long, racist tirade 0n you tube.
Last week, they also shot an unarmed black man.
It took the FPD over a week to name the cop who killed brown. ave they named the cops yet in the SLPD? Perhaps FPD can investigate the police killing by STL PD. to return the favor.
