Glendale Police Chief Jeffrey Beaton this afternoon announced the immediate suspension of Police Officer Matthew Pappert for making several "very concerning and inappropriate posts on his personal Facebook page."
Beaton said the posts came to the attention of his department at about 10:40 a.m. Friday morning. Due to the nature of the posts, Beaton said an internal investigation was immediately initiated.
In several posts over the past few days, Pappert allegedly wrote, "I'm sick of these protesters. You are a burden on society and a blight on the community." In a later post, Beaton allegedly commented, "These protesters should have been put down like a rabid dog the first night."
Beaton, in a written statement released Friday afternoon, noted that the alleged posts and comments made by Officer Pappert "are absolutely not the views and/or opinions of the Glendale Police Department or the City of Glendale, Missouri."
Pappert is a firearms instructor and a member of the police department's Crisis Intervention Team, according to the City of Glendale 2013 Police Report.

Bad choice for "crisis intervention", IMO...
...and, for comic relief (from the same story):
Sorry, but that made me LOL! No ice cream for YOU!

trying to make a point while correctly criticizing the officer in the Brown shooting, but when I heard him say that, while I know why he said it, i said out lout to my radio
NO, not even CLOSE
Not unlike the priesthood, which attracts pedophiles, the police departments all over America attract ass holes who want to use weapons of war against their own citizens, to prove how big their dicks are, etc.
I personally believe 97% of all cops lie at the drop of the hat if it means getting the bad guy as perceived by them...or if they need to protect themselves for lying or a buddy

(14,040 posts)I'm no pro cop but I'm not anti cop either. I think there are a lot of cops that go into it for the right reasons but after time they get "institutionalized" into the fraternity.
When I was a teenager I wanted to be a cop and was fortunate that my small town had an Explorer program for kids interested in being police. It was in that program I learned that policing wasn't for me. Not because the police were bad guys (I'd say my small town department of 5 officers were all pretty upstanding cops) but because I got to see the reality of the job--which was that their hands were tied on what they could do for folks.
It's still an experience I look back fondly on and pull from when I think about the fact that there ARE good cops out there. They're just getting harder to find.
