Breaking - Florida judge approves new Congressional Map redrawn by state legislators

but not for the 2014 election - for 2016. How fucked up is that?

A Florida judge is giving his approval to a new congressional map that was redrawn by state legislators.

But Circuit Judge Terry Lewis on Friday also said that this year's elections will not use the new boundaries.

Instead voters will pick members of Congress based on a map he declared invalid back in July. Lewis opted against calling a special election based on the new map.

State legislators earlier this month altered seven of 27 congressional districts after Lewis ruled the districts had been illegally drawn to benefit Republicans.

First of all, the redrawn districts vary very little from the districts the judge found illegal. Secondly, the illegal districts will have been used for two congressional elections, '12 & '14... 4 out of ten year period people will have illegitimate representation. Third, it would not have been a problem to hold a special election for the affected districts, and still had their representatives ready to be sworn in in Jan.
