Woman shot at Ferguson protest: Police took the bullet and now claim they don't have it
by sosadmin
Mike Browns death at the hands of Officer Darren Wilson was the first shooting death in some time in the suburban St. Louis community of Ferguson. Thanks to sustained protest and outcry from the community and people concerned about civil rights nationwide, the whole world knows Mike Brown's name. But just days after Brown was gunned down by the officer, another person was shot in Ferguson. The circumstances around the shooting are completely bizarre, and raise yet more troubling questions about the police. Also troubling is how little the media is mentioning the name and circumstances of Mya Aaten-White.
On August 12, Mya Aaten-White was walking back to her car after leaving a protest near the now infamous Quik Trip in Ferguson, Missouri. Shots rang out. She remembers a young man telling her shed been shot in the head. She remembers police on the scene questioning her. She took a photo of herself in the ambulance and posted it to Instagram.
The media immediately reported that it was a drive by shooting. But Aaten-White doesnt understand why the press is saying that; she doesnt remember any cars, just the young black men who helped her to safety, and the cops on the scene who questioned her while she lay prone with a bullet in her skull.
Doctors didnt remove the bullet for a few days, worried that theyd injure her worse. After they operated and dislodged the bullet, police officers showed up at the hospital and took the evidence. Her lawyer has since tried to find out where the bullet went. Neither county nor Ferguson police officers have any idea what bullet theyre talking about.

(15,438 posts)I can't see any other rational explanation why the cops would confiscate the bullet and then deny there even was one.

Sorry.
Not making light of the situation, but some coverups become laughable.
This one will be a "magic" bullet in that it disappeared on it's own.

(15,438 posts)The lady he's referring to is Aaten-White.
Then he clams up when he's asked, "Who shot her in the head?" and instead, falls back on the "Go! Go!" to get rid of those pesky 1st Amendment supporters.

(10,597 posts)... and what's more the FBI needs to pack everything up and haul it out to be investigated. If anything is amiss, press charges on every wrong they find.
The department seems to be full of either criminal incompetents or incompetent criminals.

(10,597 posts)... so I now have a "long-term cookie" in my computer. Are we scared? Are we very scared?
Mya Asten-White needs to sue the police and sue the GD hospital for allowing it to happen. After all, I'd say she owns the bullet, since it ended up inside her head!
This happened 10 days ago. Did her lawyer think of calling the FBI?

(2,178 posts)Just think. These cops are on their best behavior with the Media around. Just imagine what they are like without a witness.

Man, if I lived there, I would be organizing everyone to use videos every time they went anywhere.
