TEL AVIV, ISRAEL: Following more than a week of violence in the US city of Ferguson, Missouri, sparked by the polices fatal shooting of an unarmed black teenager, Israel after consulting Hillary Clinton, this morning offered its full support to the paramilitary police in Ferguson.
The US has every right to defend itself against continued terrorist attacks from unarmed black teenagers, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said in a statement.
As a country also facing an existential threat from people weve been systematically persecuting for decades, we understand Americas pain. But by sending in paramilitary forces, arresting journalists, using gallons of teargas and blaming the victims for getting in the way of its bullets, the US remains a beacon of hope in an increasingly dangerous world.

(14,733 posts)who were pushing 'I Love Ferguson' paraphernalia, logos on white shirts, mugs, etc, to offset the 'negative image Ferguson was getting'. Everyone shown was white, which wasn't surprising in the least, especially when you'd just heard the the views on the case and issue were split basically along racial lines, with even white who thought the shooting was unjustified as going 'one bad apple', and blacks pointing to the ongoing structural problem with how blacks are treated across the city, the state, the country. For white residents, it was all about each 'individual, isolated' case, not about the ongoing pattern those 'isolated cases' form.
There was also an emphasis on 'things getting back to normal'. The problem is, the 'normal' is the problem. The problem is not protests, the problem is the ongoing injustices that are being protested.

(32,723 posts)Traditionally that's considered to be a failure of those in charge who are supposed to prevent that from happening by eliminating the leaders and agitators.
That's also why they rail about people coming in from outside. They can't just quietly pluck someone like Al Sharpton out of the picture.

(14,733 posts)Yup, I'm an RN in Ohio, although currently unemployed. Got my ADN, took the NCLEX for licensing, went back and did the BSN, and have been putting out applications mostly to hospitals, but only had one interview, that didn't go anywhere, so I also took a phlebotomy certification course while waiting for somebody to hire me. I've been told if I could relocate, I could get a job pretty much instantly, but I can't at the moment.

(2,522 posts)Close enough to reality to be believable but with sufficient "easter eggs" to show it is not real. Of course, the label at the bottom is a dead-giveaway.
