shows no report from Wilson and a rather belated very "short" report from the FPD. Does this help or hinder the case against Wilson?

(65,616 posts)He had 4 hours on the scene to do just that and talk to witnesses...did he? What did he do besides stand around and then much later drive away from the area? Is that normal after an officer kills someone with their firearm?

(13,685 posts)The FPD is in cover up mode.
Cover up is what took Nixon down. FPD is toasting.
They have these toasters now that toast a pic on toast. The toast of the FPD has Mike Brown's face on it.

This will be a huge tell. What will the Obama administration do?
Politics aside, this seems evermore a cut and dried case of government at its worst, what the FPD, et al, are doing.
Inside Politics suggests that some power will be transferred under the table to allow such malfeasance to continue.
We shall see. Nothing surprises me any more. I expect the worst these days. Mainly because things are getting worse.

(10,952 posts)Furthermore, there is evidence that there have been ongoing problems with this PD. Remember the guy who made the mistake of pulling off into Ferguson, was arrested for a crime he did not commit, wast beaten by 4 Ferguson cops who then charged him with defacing public property (he bled on their uniforms) and then got caught committing perjury? Consider the fact that over 24,000 arrest warrants was issued in 2013 which is a rate of a little over 65 arrest warrants a day (2.7/hour). That to me smacks of a PD at war with the citizens that they care charged to serve and protect. Remember that court costs and fees are high income for this city (2nd largest source of income). When you look at the behavior of the cops in front of the media, imagine what they are like when the media is not there.
The behavior of the local PD and Prosecutor comes across of doing everything they can to throw the case and give the shooter every advantage. If the shooter was not a cop, he would have been locked up and charged a long time ago. Remember, the Prosecutor refused to charge the cops that shot and killed 2 unarmed black men sitting in their car, categorizing them as scum anyway. With his personal family baggage the guy has no right to be a Prosecutor because he has no objectivity or ability to set his personal prejudices aside. That was pretty obvious when you consider that he took the side of the over militarized police when the Governor ordered them to stand down.
Feguson PD is definitely in need of a thorough investigation and cleaned out if necessary. The Police Chief for sure needs to go for gross incompetence.

(6,228 posts)I believe there is sufficient evidence to fire the police chief. I also believe there is sufficient evidence against many officers to fire them.
However, I am absolutely shocked there are people on DU advocating a certain treatment of people SOLELY because of the group they are in. I do not think we should be firing employees (government employees, no less) without a shred of evidence that did anything wrong.

(10,952 posts)to merit taking a look at this PD. This is a PD that operating in a predatory manner in the community that they are supposed to protect and serve. And the Courts are complicit with what is going on. There is a report of at least one judge known to start proceedings 1/2 hour before the scheduled time and order the doors locked at time that the court starts (which drove up additional fees for people being late.

(6,228 posts)I agree with looking into the department as well. However, you originally said they HAD to "clean out" the department. I read that as firing everyone. If you meant only fire those that you can prove did something wrong, then I agree. I do not agree with firing someone for something you believe they did.

(10,952 posts)to determine if there are in fact any decent cops and firing or prosecuting all the bad cops. While there may be some decent cops there, if they failed to take a position against the system and the bad cops then they are no better then the rotten apples. Their very silence makes them complicent with what was taking place.

(176 posts)It was brought up in the other thread that the "strong armed robbery" report referenced a report of Brown's murder when it was written on 8/9.

Something doesn't add up here. So if there was a Ferguson PD Report 2014-12391 on 8/9 that was about Brown's murder, where is it? And why didn't they release that one to the ACLU under their FOIA request? Cover up?

(7,318 posts)Was this really a report in which everything was redacted as opposed to being a 'blank' report? In other words, instead of photocopying the report and then blackening out all the words except the top part, did they made a copy of the electronic original and simply remove all the wording? Or are they really holding back the one created last week?
Have they and the FPD actually said they don't have any other incident report?
Is there an online copy of the report that was provide to the ACLU in response to their FOIA request?

(23,956 posts)Wilson's or the FPD's reports could certainly come up as evidence in the trial, and from the looks of it, a full chronology would be ... disadvantageous to their case.
