I am eagerly awaiting a show of open-carry solidarity from the NRA.
If they dont get these killer cops and corrupt cops under control, a member identifying himself as Commander Drew X was quoted as saying. What happened in Ferguson is going to be nationwide.
The clubs leader, Huey Freeman, said Wednesdays march would be the first step in a campaign of civilian patrols through the area. The states open carry law allows long gun owners to display them unless it is meant to cause alarm.
We believe we can police ourselves and bring security to our community, ridding our community of black-on-black crime, violence, police terror, etcetera, etcetera, Freeman told KXAS-TV.

(25,966 posts)In the big picture, black militias with guns isn't any safer than white militias with guns, but I find it grimly amusing, just because all these "open carry" and "stand-your-ground" laws are so transparently racist. What goes around, comes around, bitches.

(621 posts)"greatest national security threat the U.S. faces." (I think Hoover meant, the "greatest threat the ruling class faces" but reasonable minds can disagree on the BPP's revolutionary potential.)
Today, btw, is the anniversary of Nat Turner's rebellion back in 1831.
Figured you'd appreciate that!

(25,966 posts)It will be interesting to watch their gymnastics, as they try to explain how scary black gun clubs are a threat, while simultaneously claiming they aren't racist.

(7,769 posts)Huey Freeman is the main protagonist in The Boondocks syndicated comic strip written by Aaron McGruder, as the leader of the Boondocks with Jazmine, Cindy, Riley, and Phil and well as the protagonist of the series and recurrent principal narrator of the same name.
Politically sapient and borderline militant, Huey, being a self-described revolutionary left-wing radical, regularly reflects upon current events as well as the plight of African Americans as it relates to a greater American society. Huey's character has often been described as "misanthropic," and "cynical," as often presented in his pessimistic personality.Huey is also a retired domestic terrorist. He is named after Huey P. Newton, one of the co-founders and leaders of the Black Panther Party. He is voiced by actress Regina King.

*This* is the real Huey Freeman:
KXAS-TV needs to do some homework.

(18,655 posts)I've been assured a brown skin person openly carrying a firearm would immediately be shot by police or a white gun carrier.
I don't know what the NRA has said, haven't bothered to look because I don't care what they say, but checking gun forums they are overwhelmingly supportive. The few negative comments, mostly pointing to the NBP connection, are countered by comments that the 1A allows everyone to speak even if you don't like or disagree with the speaker.
I still maintain my position that guns should not be carried to make a statement. I would rather they carried signs identifying who they are and whom they are supporting.
