(7,784 posts)about ISIS being a cancer that crosses the line of humanity.
The US will continue doing what it has to do and he called upon people in the Middle East to continue fighting against them too.
That's it, in brief. I'll post video when I find it.

(25,704 posts)There was a press conference about a year ago where Obama announced we might bomb Syria and arm ISIS.
Then everyone lost their shit (because that was crazy) and the administration backed down. Remember Putin saving our ass?
Stupid world. Stupid country.

(25,704 posts)When Samantha Powers and the rest of the National Security nutters tried to make us join that war Obama wisely told them to pound sand up their asses.

(35,015 posts)When you invade a country, destabilize the government and kill its people, what can we expect? I'm just sorry Obama has to deal with Bushco's fucked up decision to invade Iraq.

(35,015 posts)We have created the situation in Iraq, an opportunity. Whether ISIS or another extremist group moves in the fill the void is irrelevant.

(34,845 posts)They're more like a gang of cut-throats trying to create a void. Our decimation of Iraq didn't help Iraq at all (to say the least) but the blame for ISIS belongs solely on members of ISIS. You don't behead strangers, murder and kidnap hundreds and think it somehow will lead to power. That's not rational thinking.
ISIS is not composed of rational people.

(18,402 posts)That all the beheadings and violent terror against citizens in Syria, and then Iraq, over the past two years was okay, because we weren't involved during that time--and that, damn it, if we just hadn't tried to push them back and save some people recently this latest beheading wouldn't have happened? That's what it sounds like.
We have the situation we have--with the region destabilized due largely to our invasion of Iraq 11 years ago. But you can't just bemoan the past: you have to deal with what is happening today, right now. Are you cool with ISIS setting up a strict Muslim caliphate across the region, and beheading and terrorizing people in order to get it?
Or do you just want us to turn our heads the other way? Is that the cool, Ron Paulish thing to do?
Life isn't easy or uncomplicated, and foreign affairs are even less so.
