http://www.theroot.com/articles/culture/2014/08/_5_eyewitness_accounts_of_michael_brown_s_shooting.html
1. Dorian Johnson, Michael Browns friend.
The two men told the officer that they were only minutes away from their destination. Johnson said that Wilson backed up his car and asked Brown and Johnson what they just said. Johnson claimed that Wilson then tried to open his car door but the door ricocheted off of Browns body and closed again.
(snip)
Johnson said that Wilson got out of his car and began to shoot at Brown while Brown was running away. Brown then stopped, put his hands in the air, turned around and pleaded with the officer to stop shooting, since he didnt have a gun.
Johnson said that Wilson continued to fire several more shots before Browns body fell to the ground.
2. Tiffany Mitchell, who was visiting her employee in a nearby apartment complex.
(snip)
During an interview with MSNBC, Mitchell said she was driving when she saw the confrontation at the point when Brown and Wilson were wrestling through the window. Brown was pushing, trying to get away from the officer, Mitchell explained, and the officer was trying to pull him in.
(snip)
Michaels body jerked as if he were hit, Mitchell said. Then he turns around and put his hands up, and the officer continued to walk up on him and shoot him, until he goes all the way down to the ground.

(10,559 posts)It is believed the arm graze from the autopsy is when he was hit first. He then turned around and was gunned down with his hands in the air.

(10,597 posts)... and you know that there was probably more. Those are just the ones who came forward. We have no idea if there were others that didn't come forward until the FBI found them by going door-to-door canvasing the neighborhood and handing out those dandy little calling cards.
AG Holder is in town today. Let's hope Wilson has been contacted and told to be ready... that he will be picked up today.
Think positive and if things don't turn out well, work like hell to turn it around!

Regardless of his cop relatives, this prosecutor has shown bias in this type of case.
He publicly complained when Gov. Nixon put the Highway Patrol in charge of handling Ferguson protests, saying it "denigrated" the local police and was "illegal."
http://www.vox.com/2014/8/14/6004631/the-st-louis-county-prosecutor-doesnt-approve-of-the-leadership
Then there is the 2001 incident in which two suspected drug dealers were killed by two police officers, McCulloch never brought charges against the officers, concluding they acted in self-defense. A subsequent federal investigation found that the two African American men were unarmed and not moving in the direction of the officers, but because the officers felt endangered, the investigation found that the shootings were justified. Angered by protests over the failure to prosecute, McColluch called the two men killed "bums" who "spread destruction in the community."

I hope Holder and the FBI do a broad and thorough investigation.
Rock on, ReRe.

(1,432 posts)we're asking for due process. As of now there has been none.
Discussing the events on a discussion board does not constitute anyone requesting death without trial.
The only lack of due process going on was when an unarmed man lost his life on the streets of Ferguson. No one has been arrested for this act yet.

It is all over the place. Wilson (police officer) is alredy convicted - the only question is what his sentence will be. Do you dispute that?

(10,056 posts)That is not what you said.
Perhaps you need to cool off and be objective about the evidence.
Here is plenty to charge the cop with in his case.
That is what folks are demanding.

(50,983 posts)Ferguson has become ridiculous. Haven't you read about the racially motivated traffic stops? This is beyond dispute. This is not speculation. Ferguson police have engaged in institutionalized racial profiling for years!
Expecting a simple arrest of the officer is not at all unreasonable. Of course if one watches Fox "News", and accepts their nonsense, they might believe otherwise.

This case would've been a lot easier if they had required their police officers to wear shirt cameras while on duty.
I believe the federal government should issue or sell at a major discount shirt cameras for all the nation's police instead of going ape shit over militarization.

California Towns Simple Solution To Police Brutality Has Lowered Use Of Force By 60 Percent
?de9c64
Take the city of Rialto, California, for instance. In February 2012, the citys 70 police officers had to take part in a controlled study, obligating them to wear a tiny camera that filmed all their interactions with the public. The results were incredible: In the first year of the cameras introduction, complaints against Rialto police officers fell by 88%, while use of force by officers fell by almost 60%.
When you put a camera on a police officer, they tend to behave a little better, follow the rules a little better, Rialto Police Chief William A. Farrar told the New York Times. And if a citizen knows the officer is wearing a camera, chances are the citizen will behave a little better.
