Or maybe many all cops are bad. The blue vs everyone else that I have seen here today.
I am asking (maybe this first to do so)- is the LE system so broke that radical change is needed and if so what might that change look like?

Unless you think the ruthless efficiency, efficacy and concern for civil libererties enbodied by the TSA would be a good idea.

that have huge violations...like the FPD having issued more warrants, than the town has people? Certainly there are red flags that can be found somewhat easily imo.

Police have SWAT...but what is going on in Ferguson is para-military maneuvering. Far beyond what the need calls for. The real need is an investigation followed by litigation.

Also police forces have to do a better job recruiting people of color. You're asking for trouble if you have an almost all white police force in a community with a large population of people of color. The police should look something like the people in the community they're protecting - because they are supposed to be protecting the community, not fighting a war against them.

That's a theoretical, even philosophical discussion question given the state of things.

Get down to brass tacks
Meaning: Engage with the basic facts or realities.

We are about a thousand steps away from even being able to contemplate that in terms of actual policy at this time. Even as a social concept. It surely doesn't apply to engaging with reality, certainly not in the context of the poll.

Not to say it isn't worth discussing, but it isn't brass tacks.

Not what I thought I'd see when I clicked on this thread title....

It is an interesting discussion IMO. I am surprised given the opposition to the militarization that a clear majority support working with the current framework over dome reduction in armament.
