Alabama Sorority Kicks Out Member Who Posted Snapchat Picture Claiming ‘Chi Omega Got NO N*ggas!'

University of Alabama sorority has removed a member who inaccurately claimed on social media that the organization had no black members. The woman, whose name was not released, posted on Snapchat claiming “Chi O got NO niggas!!!!!” The Chi Omega sorority, like other Greek organizations at the university, adopted new members over the weekend.

The post circulated on social media before it was reported by the school’s Crimson White newspaper. Chi Omega issued a statement Monday on Facebook announcing that the woman had been removed from the chapter.
“What was expressed is absolutely reprehensible and completely inconsistent with Chi Omega’s values and policies,” the sorority said in a statement. “Chi Omega took swift disciplinary action in accordance with the organization’s policies and procedures. The woman who took the photo is no longer a member of the chapter.”

The chapter was among the sororities investigated last year by the student newspaper, which reported that the university’s Greek system remained rigidly segregated. The Crimson White reported last August that another sorority, Alpha Gamma Delta, cited “policy procedure” to deny entry to a black student who had graduated as salutatorian from high school and had deep roots in the University of Alabama community.

The university’s Student Government Association used a procedural move in March to prevent a full vote on a resolution supporting full integration of Alabama’s fraternities and sororities. The newspaper reported over the weekend that 21 black women and 169 self-identified racial minorities were invited to join sororities this year.

They're claiming autocorrect changed it from 'Ninjas' to 'N*ggas.'

The sorority and the university are investigating the posting of the image, although Total Frat Move reported that other Chi Omega members speculate the offensive word may have been autocorrected from “ninja” by a digital device. http://www.rawstory.com/rs/2014/08/19/alabama-sorority-kicks-out-member-who-posted-pic-claiming-chi-o-got-no-nggas/

SnapChat is supposed to auto-delete any message shortly after it's sent, so that none of the recipients can retain a copy.

The truth is that there are ways around that: http://arstechnica.com/business/2014/05/ftc-says-snapchat-must-pull-back-on-touting-its-service-for-privacy/
