Where's the Right-wing Constitutionalists Now?
Where's the right-wing "I hate government but love the U. S. Constitution" zealots now? The First Amendment to the Constitution guarantees the freedom to assemble for peaceful purposes. Closing the streets to protesters in Ferguson, MO is simply Unconstitutional.
But they'll say "it's not a peaceful gathering if looters are breaking in to stores."
To which I'd say "GO TO THE STORES AND ARREST THE LOOTERS!"
It's not the protesters doing the looting, it's the criminal element within the protesters. So arrest the looters! For all we know, they could be agent provocateurs inciting violence to give police an excuse to crack down. Arrest the looters!
Here's a suggestion, stop watching the peaceful protesters with tanks and machine guns and send those officers to where stores are being unprotected. Don't tell those store owners you couldn't protect their property because you were playing army down the street and watching people who didn't need to be watched.
Unconstitutionally watched and disbursed at that.
