WaPo Irresponsibly Reporting Heresay that Brown had Marijuana in his System

Their headline states definitively that the investigation shows he had marijuana in his system, but if you read the article it's heresay from some anonymous source close to the investigation. These days the media wants to get the scoop so badly they just can't wait to get real confirmation before running things.

Not to mention, it makes no difference and this is just going to be used as another distraction. Even if this ends up being true, this is shoddy journalism.

County investigation: Michael Brown was shot from the front, had marijuana in his system

By Mark Berman, Emily Wax-Thibodeaux and Wesley Lowery August 18 at 12:34 PM

Michael Brown was shot in the head and chest multiple times, according to Mary Case, the St. Louis County medical examiner.

While Case declined to comment further, citing the ongoing investigation into Brown’s death, another person familiar with the county’s investigation told The Washington Post that Brown had between six and eight gunshot wounds and was shot from the front.

In addition, Brown had marijuana in his system when he was shot and killed by a police officer on Aug. 9 in Ferguson, according to this person, who spoke on the condition of anonymity because of the ongoing investigation.

fucking report.

But for now this is certainly hearsay and not fact.

Aren't we past the point where a pot in one's system can be used in character assassination?

How many 18 year olds would test positive for pot on any given day? I would guess it is a rather large percentage among all demographics.

It has exactly NOTHING to do with the fact that this cop killed an unarmed kid.

not directed at you, cui bono, but at the stupid BS idea that is only meant to plant the seed that somehow this young man deserved to die at the hands of police.

This part was pretty interesting:

In anticipation that Brown could be vilified by the results of the drug test, conducted as a routine part of the autopsy, protesters have consistently insisted that Darren Wilson, the officer who shot Brown, should be required to submit to one as well.

“What was in the system of that cop when he was pumping bullets into that boy’s body?” asked a protest leader, shouting into a megaphone, during a rally on Friday afternoon.

yes to that.

It is not the job of the press to make judgments about what is appropriate and when. They were given information from a source they considered reliable enough to publish.

Once a lie has satisfied poplar expectations the truth becomes all but meaningless.

Have to wonder what persons who speak on the condition of anonymity get paid.
