So I see the USS Expendable er, I mean Enterprise is heading for the Gulf....

USS Enterprise heads to Persian Gulf

The carrier group is heading to the Gulf and our CNN national security experts note that this is a typical Navy maneuver that happens as carrier groups rotate to new positions around the globe.

This is the final deployment for the Enterprise, which will be inactivated and eventually decommissioned, according to a Navy press release.

This does come at a time that relations with Iran are fraying. We called the Navy today to ask if there is any connection. They did not get back to us right away. If they do, we will update this.

http://news.blogs.cnn.com/2012/04/09/uss-enterprise-heads-to-persian-gulf/

In an unrelated development, CafePress reports an anonymous order for 5 million "Remember the Enterprise" T-shirts and coffee mugs.

In all seriousness, Iran has ignored our previous sword rattling, but when we place ourselves on suicide watch, it's time for Tehran to sit up and take notice.

On Edit:
For the sarcasm impaired, of course we're not going to sink the Enterprise. The whole point of a covert operation is that you don't broadcast it ahead of time. But Iran has been threatening to attack our ships if push-comes-to-shove. So the choice of the Enterprise is, well, interesting.

Seriously?

We should hope that ships launched today have a 52 year life span. Hell, she is almost as old as I am.

Your subject line is an unwarranted slam against a ship that has done an admirable job for over 5 decades.

Edited to say; Good. I'm glad this is falling down the front page.

Crap OP subject line.
Bollocks attempt at making a non story sound more than it is.

A deployment would typically last up to a year, sometimes more, and encompass all the amount of time a ship is away from home port, including multiple missions potentially all over the globe.

it sounded like saber rattling to me and predicted no attack.

This deployment, however, seems more like a classic triple-dog-dare.

I used to be nick named the Admiral because I'd blow the saber rattelers out of the water with solid facts and citations.

Enterprise is going to replace another carrier, this is SOP, 6 month deployment is typical, all US carriers locations are found at CVlocations http://www.gonavy.jp/CVLocation.html

The Lincoln has been at sea since Dec. Big "E" is scheduled to replace the Lincoln. SOP. When the Kitty Hawk was sceduled for decommission circa 2008 there was the same buzz, look out for the false flag, Gulf of Tonkin incident. Simply put we dont need to sacrifice a carrier to attack Iran as motivation, the notion is just silly. We have no weapons that can do anuthing beyond closing the entrances of the tunnels, no penatrators, no nukes, no existing weapons will hurt this underground installations.

This deployment is SOP, there is no triple dog dare here. There is no concentration of forces.

The Bush cabal already had their illogical excuse for that illegal war based on lies. 9/11. Bush, Cheney, and Rumsfeld all made vague claims of Iraqi involvement in 9/11 though there was zero evidence to support this.

The WMDs were also a complete fabrication like the claims of babies being thrown from incubators in Kuwait in the 91 Iraq war:

WMD LIES - Bush Cheney Rumsfeld etc. - THE ULTIMATE CLIP:

IRAQ WAR - Incubator Baby Death Lies & Liars :

From Wikipedia:
Nayirah Testimony refers to the controversial testimony given before the non-governmental Congressional Human Rights Caucus on October 10, 1990, by a female who provided only her first name, Nayirah. In her emotional testimony, Nayirah stated that after the Iraqi invasion of Kuwait she had witnessed Iraqi soldiers take babies out of incubators in a Kuwaiti hospital, take the incubators, and leave the babies to die. Though reporters did not then have access to Kuwait, her testimony was regarded as credible at the time and was widely publicized. It was cited numerous times by United States senators and the president in their rationale to back Kuwait in the Gulf War.

Her story was initially corroborated by Amnesty International and testimony from evacuees. Following the liberation of Kuwait, reporters were given access to the country and found the story of stolen incubators unsubstantiated. However, they did find that a number of people, including babies, died when nurses and doctors fled the country.

In 1992, it was revealed that Nayirah's last name was al-Ṣabaḥ (Arabic: نيره الصباح? and that she was the daughter of Saud bin Nasir Al-Sabah, the Kuwaiti ambassador to the United States. Furthermore, it was revealed that her testimony was organized as part of the Citizens for a Free Kuwait public relations campaign which was run by Hill & Knowlton for the Kuwaiti government. Following this, al-Sabah's testimony has largely come to be regarded as wartime propaganda....

Sure. This mission by the USS Enterprise will hopefully and most likely be routine. And the more people discuss things like this the more likely that nothing will transpire.

I am more than happy to shout loudly at random intervals to avoid another war. I know it may seem old to those that feel our killing in Iraq, Afghanistan, Yemen, Pakistan, Columbia, etc etc etc is justified. But there are some like myself that believe that war is waged and innocent people killed not to protect the American people but rather the financial interests of multinational corporations.

I am sick of America being the lap dog of the corporate elite that played us like a fiddle under Bush.

Lying to the American people to get us into armed conflict around the globe happens way too often. Yea, there are occasions where it is justified but then there are the cases like Iraq which in my mind are without justification and a complete disservice to the American people and way of life.

I do hope that the USS Enterprise deployment to the middle east goes without incident but knowing the history of things I will always have reservations about the intentions of those who pull the strings behind the scenes that make war possible.

My two cents.

showing concern and throwing out warnings and so called conspiracy theories and see nothing transpire perhaps in part to their efforts.

War has been come so nonchalant that one can post that 24 were killed in Yemen with the help of US Drones as I did today and no one says peep. (update: someone said "peep" )

It's just standard procedure for America to be at war anywhere in the world killing the purported enemy:

http://www.democraticunderground.com/1002536301

So PLEASE bother me with potential problems, unusual troops movements, revelations from whistle blowers, and other troubling details because there are always those that want war and profit from war and if left unchecked they may damn well get their way.

The Iraq war was a shameful disgrace as a policy of the United States that should never have happened. The harm done to our troops, the Iraqi people, America's financial burden, and America's moral standing in the world should not be repeated!

War is a fucking racket and the death of innocent men, women, and children should NEVER be taken lightly.
