Huffington Post reporter Ryan J. Reilly on Thursday morning posted photos of the St. Louis County police officer who he said arrested and assaulted him the evening before as he covered the violence in Ferguson, Mo.

My first thought was the way football games are promoted, lots of gear, dramatic lighting, going to war, winning a trophy, a championship ring, money, admiration and a place in sports history. With dramatic, martial music in the background.

Wonder if any of that is how the military style police see themselves, as warriors in an epic battle defending something. What that they love and defend is never in the news, it's just accepted.

Just a rhetorical question.
