Pro-Lifer Suggests Abortion To Blame For Robin Williams' Depression

The pro-life site Life News on Tuesday published a piece suggesting that an abortion in actor Robin Williams' past may have contributed to the depression he struggled with throughout his life.

The story, titled "Robin Williams: Abortion of His Unborn Child May Have Added to Struggle With Depression," surfaced part of a biography of Williams that mentions that his girlfriend had an abortion in the 1970s.

"Many are aware that Williams struggled for years with serious addiction issues. However a lesser known fact is that one of those demons was an abortion that took place in the 1970’s," Life News' Kevin Burke wrote.

....

The writer analyzed Williams' battle with addiction and discussion of depression, looking for signs that it was in some way linked to the abortion.

....

Burke then reimagined the quote to be about abortion and wrote that "Williams may have been making a thinly veiled reference to what society tells us does not exist…his post abortion trauma and complicated grief."

They will use any opportunity to promote their judgmental view of
how women should live their lives according to their patriarchal

I need to ask them about my right-wing bipolar cousin--she who never had an abortion, saw a Christian counselor in addition to her psychiatrist, attended and volunteered at church multiple times per week. I wonder why she stepped in front of a train when she was about Robin Williams' age. Tell me what sins she (and her father, multiple aunts, and ancestors) committed.

She told me she had it and tried to explain it so i could understand. She took medication, but decided one day to "adjust" her dosage downward. She thought she didnt need that much anymore. She never told me that she had done it either. Things got odd with us soon after, and she ended up marrying her first cousin. Really.
She told me about the medication situation after we broke up, but I just couldnt trust her anymore. She was a very smart woman and knew better than to play around with her dosages without a doctors OK.
I hope I never have to experience it with my own body.

My cousin held a PhD, definitely smart enough to do, I don't know, anything...bipolar don't care.

I read that Mr. Williams said that he hadn't been diagnosed as bipolar, but there are many other awful mind malfunctions.

With a family full of bipolar folks, I'd say you're better off. Even if you could trust her, the medical profession does not know all about the problem.

Seriously, these people are sick *ucks!!!! They will stop at nothing to make people feel bad.

The 'Heartbeat' people noticed my sister being emotional at church after a Mother's Day anti abortion blow out sermon. This woman wanted to visit my sister who lived in a special care unit, could barely speak, and was losing control of her body one movement at a time. When the woman called for permission to go in and speak with my sister I said that I didn't think that it would be a good idea. This woman spit over the phone, ' Did you know your sister had an abortion?' I wanted to tell this woman that it was a good *amn thing I wasn't a closed minded, meddling hypocritical Christian like she was or the surprise of this revelation may cause me to refuse to continue to be my 'evil' sister's primary caregiver because of her sin.

I was kind and told the woman that it would not be a good idea. I followed that up with a call to her manager and spoke frankly about the damage this woman could have done to my sister's life. I can only hope that She took care of the ignorant one!

Wait hear me out. ..

It "could" be true. Of course it isn't.

But if it was it isn't an argument against abortion, but for greater social services funding.

Plot foiled.

It's none of our business. It's not a suitable subject for discussions that are vitally needed to bring help to people who suffer every day with mental illness.

I don't know what he felt about the situation around the abortion (if it's even true that it happened), but it was something between him, the woman involved, and any higher power Williams may have believed in. It's not for any of us to say if it contributed to his death.

And I agree about the "demons" part in the last post. No such thing as demons. Stupid fundy freaks.

They're not frickin' "demons". They are diseases. Illnesses of a body part--the brain.

If a diabetic has a binge on sugar and fat and his/her blood sugar sky rockets, is that a "demon"?

If a hypercholesterolemic decides to eat eggs and bacon everyday, is that referred to as a "demon"?

If an asthmatic decides to start smoking cigarettes, is that a "demon"?

No, no, and no. The above examples would be considered bad decisions....but the only illnesses that still gets referred to in satanic terms are brain disorders.

Okay. Off my soapbox now.

If you weren't a close, personal, intimate friend of someone who died by their own hand, you don't get to opine on what may have driven the person to suicide. Of course, if you are a close, personal, intimate friend of a suicide, you probably don't want to blather a lot of baseless speculation to the general public.

Side note to Kevin Burke: Fuck you. No, seriously: Fuck. You.

cretins.

I HAVE had friends who committed suicide, and, although I have some knowledge of what they were experiencing, there is no way I would ever be arrogant enough to think I knew, or will EVER know, exactly what they were going through.
