whether it is destroying another country like Iraq, or destroying the Economy, or destroying a State like Kansas or leaving millions without Health Care or denying millions the right to vote or, or or...
There is never an acknowledgement that it is indeed a failure?

(10,624 posts)If only Kansas had been bold enough to cut taxes more, the runaway Laffer Curve effect would have taken off for sure.

(8,224 posts)Conservatism is taken most literally by those who believe in "Original sin". Therefore the idea can never fail, we can just come up short of the ideal.

(4,407 posts)... and whether it has been met. Republican economics isn't designed to make the economy work better. Their policies aren't meant to help people get health care and not die. As for voting, they aren't trying to solve the problem of voter fraud, they're trying to solve the problem that it's hard for them to get elected.

(33,635 posts)and i don't expect these fascistic assholes to admit they are trying to make an Oligarchy. But it would be goo d if someone in the MSM or a Dem besides Sanders or Warren would point it out.
Instead the people who were and continue to be wrong about everything are treated as elder statesmen.

(58,726 posts)After all, Reganomics is actually working quite well. It is, after all, a system designed to create wealth at the top, and has no plan about what to do about anything else.

(33,688 posts)is abundantly apparent to anyone who can put the pieces together - a modern fusion of fascism and feudalism combined with the Divine Right of The Rich to do whatever the fuck they want TO whomever the fuck they want to do it.
mindwalker_i
(4,407 posts)They want to get money to the rich and corporations because some of that will come back as campaign contributions. In turn, that helps Republicans get re-elected and continue on their path to become lobbyists afterwards and become (more) rich. The questions as to whether it helps or hurts the rest of America - the middle and lower classes - don't enter into the equations. If making people more desperate to take low-paying, shitty jobs helps corporations, then Republicans are all for it, not because they actively want to hurt poor people but simply because it helps donors, who then help said Republicans in their goals.
If this all results in fascism and feudalism, so be it as long as it keeps the campaign contributions coming. In other words, Republicans don't care whether America works.

(33,688 posts)It is also clear that the dearest strategic desire of most of the 1% is a fascist/feudal state.

(33,635 posts)but no one in the MSM and most Dems for that matter ever talk about this.
They are never taken to task for their failures or their true agenda.

(4,407 posts)We (democrats) keep arguing the issues that Republicans are putting forward, but those aren't the real issues, at all. Repubs can't talk about the real issues - wanting to give money to the rich so it comes back as campaign contributions - because they'd lose. People would be pissed. But those are the issues we SHOULD be talking about. Yeah, they'll kick and scream.

(20,166 posts)intended to increase deficits to such an extent that New Deal programs would have to be cut or eliminated all together (our beloved austerity), while wealth is redistributed upward to the Haves and Have Mores.
http://flaglerlive.com/8577/david-stockman-reagan-nixon-bush-trickledown/
Back in 1981 David Stockman was the wonderkid of the Reagan administrationthe director of the Office of Management and Budget whod craft in actual budgets the trickle-down miracle Reagan had promised on the campaign trail: lower budgets, lower spending, higher tax revenue. But trickle-down economics was a wish, not a reality. Its never worked. Lower taxes dont generate more revenue. They generate deficits.
Reagan knew it. So did Stockman. So did their guru, Friederich von Hayek. The deficits were intentional all along. They were edsigned to starve the beast, meaning intentionally cut revenue as a way of pressuring Congress to cut the New Deal programs Reagan wanted to demolish. The plan, Stockman told Sen. Daniel Patrick Moynihan at the time, was to have a strategic deficit that would give you an argument for cutting back the programs that werent desired. It got out of hand.

(25,278 posts)the talk is that they will take the Senate and maintain the House in Nov? They are on the wrong side of just about every issue. Look at the other responses in this thread to see their failure.
How - how - how - could the American People re-elect and elect these failures? I just don't get it.
I've talked with enough Repubs that are disgusted with their own Party. They are talking about either sitting out in Nov or voting Dem.
Yet the MSM continues to push that the Repubs are poised to take the Senate and maintain the House.
Is that wishful thinking on their part? Is the MSM just trying to make us think that because they want to make the election season interesting? Are they trying to convince Dem voters that it is hopeless and they should just stay home and not vote?
Just like we hear that there are many Dem voters that will sit Nov out because they just don't have the fire in their belly like the Repub voters do - aren't there a lot of Repub voters that have soured out on their Party and will sit Nov out?

(52,345 posts)their philosophy is to further enrich those already rich people willing to play the political contributions game by passing off whatever cover story sticks well enough to let them get away with it.
so far they've been a huge success. so much so that their cover stories are increasingly hard to sell to vast majority of people on the short end of their stick.
but the publicly stated goals as they implement these policies are a disaster from which we hear silence.

of course the publicly stated goals are a disaster!

It's like talk of inequity without pointing out the policy of the US has been to broaden inequity for the last 35 years.

Populist_Prole
(5,364 posts)I can't imagine they can get enough support to win an election ( we're talking raw numbers....votes ) with even every single one-percenter, and so-called independents. No, social conservatives are more than just a quarter of the electorate.

(25,029 posts)that most seem obsessed with defining as in between Democrats and Republicans for their own purposes and to a lesser extent from some who are registered as Democrats but seldom or never vote that way that bolster the real life applicable numbers (which can't actually be offset by the Republicans that do the same because of sheer volume making a similar percentage actually be a very different actual number.
I have no clue how one would even begin to figure out a who's who on economic and/or foreign policy conservatism the lines are too muddled and conflicting for any accuracy in self selection.
