Ken Burch
(50,254 posts)2. We have experienced long, pointlessly drawn-out regional conflicts.
Would you say THOSE were still "limited"?
Is a war "limited" if it isn't a world war?
What, to you, is the dividing line?
Kaleva
(36,307 posts)5. Total war doesn't have to be world wide
The Civil War can be considered to be a total war and also the numerous Indian Wars. The North and South Koreans would probably think of the Korean War as a total war but from the viewpoint of the US and other involved nations, it wasn't.

(43,890 posts)3. I believe in limited war the way I believe in limited pregnancy. nt

(10,007 posts)4. One thing that is undoubtedly true:
the reasons the Pentagon gives for why a war is "necessary" are always false.

expanded.
