So it seems Messrs. Graham and McCain took to the Sunday morning Festival Of Televised Suck to talk about how ISIS was going to burn down an American city, which is why we should never have left Iraq.
We didn't want the proof to be a mushroom cloud.
Iraq had 26,000 liters of anthrax, 38,000 liters of botulinum toxin, 500 tons of sarin, VX and mustard gas, uranium from Nigeria for use in a "robust" weapons program, mobile biological weapons labs, and connections to al Qaeda that led to 9/11...
...ALL BULLSHIT.
They also had these gliders that could strike the American mainland...
...MORE BULLSHIT.
7,000 ISIS dickheads 16,000 miles away don't frighten me about the safety of American cities.
People who allow themselves to be frightened by people like Lindsay Graham and John McCain frighten me.

"LHO killed JFK?" Could have happened, although one wondered why Ruby gunned down LHO the very next day. And forget the Zapruder film: there was a magic bullet.
"9/11?" This summarizes my feelings--
The "official version" tells us that Bush "waited for more information." Never mind that there was no communication between Card and Bush. Absolutely none. So how did Bush's staff know he wanted to wait for more information? Oh, yeah, we are told after it happened. Don't believe your eyes!
And I'll never forget the video of Bush telling a room-full of folks that he saw the first plane hit while waiting outside the classroom. You know: the "Terrible pilot" story--
The "official version" tells us that Bush was "confused."
They don't even try to hide it, anymore. They lie and lie, but it's the "official report" that dominates the narrative, no matter how stupid and ridiculous it is. It's the "official story" we must accept, no matter how it contradicts the facts and hard evidence. And the media always reports the "official" story. The "Sunday morning Festival Of Televised Suck" always presents the "official" report.
Reminds me of this Monty Python skit--

Carpenter: Sir! Sir! He's not in Washington, sir.
Commander: OK! Hold everything! Hold everything! Hold it! Lay off! Lay off... Where is he?
Carpenter: We don't know, sir ... all we know is he checked out of his hotel and took a bus to the airport.
Commander: All right! I want a full-scale Red Alert throughout the world! Surround everyone with everything we've got! Mobilize every fighting unit and every weapon we can lay our hands on! I want... I want three full-scale global nuclear alerts with every army, navy and air force unit on eternal standby!
Carpenter: Right, sir!
Commander: And introduce conscription!
Carpenter: Yes, sir!
Commander: Right!
Carpenter: Captain Carpenter here, sir. We've been on red alert now for three days, sir, and still no sign of Mr Neutron.
Commander: Have we bombed anywhere? Have we shown 'em we got teeth?
Carpenter: Oh yes, sir. We've bombed a lot of places flat, sir.
Commander: Good. Good. We don't want anyone to think we're chicken.
Carpenter: Oh no! They don't think that, sir. Everyone's really scared of us, sir.
Commander: Of us?
Carpenter: Yes, sir.
Commander: (pleased) Of our power?
Carpenter: Oh yes, sir! They're really scared when they see those big planes come over.
Commander: Wow! I bet they are. I bet they are. I bet they're really scared.
Carpenter: Oh they are, sir.
Commander: Do we have any figures on how scared they are?
Carpenter: No ... no figures, sir. But they sure were scared.

(2,638 posts)What can I say? I had the station on and there it was. I was transfixed and watched the whole thing and couldn't understand why it didn't say "brought to you by the Republican National Committee" at the end.
Filled with Rethugs, one of the highlights was Peter King who was on the "America will be attacked" talking point:
He did have Dick Durbin on so that he could attack everything he said about Obama's leadership.
In the Roundtable, one Democrat, I forget her name now was able to say like two sentences. As I watched her I realized that it seems every time they have a Dem on these stations, 9 out of 10 times it's an African American. I never realized it before today 'cause I don't view with color on the brain and it never registers. I don't believe this is accidental. Even the piece he had on about the political divide in a Wisconsin town featured white Rethugs and the Dem was an African American woman who owned a small business.
The whole conversation was about how unpopular our President is and how bad his foreign policy is and how his domestic policy is in shambles because of his stance on immigration.
We are being brainwashed by the media, the Rethugs, and their corporate masters. It was so depressing and I felt so dirty I had to take another shower.

Three years ago, Mr. President, you were told by your national security team, get involved, armed the rebels because this problem will grow. You said no.
You made many, many bad bets. Your strategy is failing. You told us bin Laden is dead, we're safe.
Since bin Laden has died, there are more terrorist organizations with more safe havens, with more money, with more weapons, and more capabilities to attack the homeland than there was before 9/11.
Mr. President, if you don't adjust your strategy, these people are coming here.
And Graham does that even though anyone can look up both the transcript and the video of what President Obama said when bin Laden was killed, and it most certainly bore no resemblance to what Graham claimed.
http://www.whitehouse.gov/blog/2011/05/02/osama-bin-laden-dead
For over two decades, bin Laden has been al Qaedas leader and symbol, and has continued to plot attacks against our country and our friends and allies. The death of bin Laden marks the most significant achievement to date in our nations effort to defeat al Qaeda.
Yet his death does not mark the end of our effort. Theres no doubt that al Qaeda will continue to pursue attacks against us. We must - and we will -- remain vigilant at home and abroad.
Just once I wish someone in the studio would say to Graham, McCain et al, "Come on! Don't give me that @#!!"

Code named Operation Northwoods, the plans included the possible assassination of Cuban émigrés, sinking boats of Cuban refugees on the high seas, hijacking planes, blowing up a U.S. ship, and even orchestrating violent terrorism in U.S. cities.
The plans were developed as ways to trick the American public and the international community into supporting a war to oust Cuba's then new leader, communist Fidel Castro.

I keep waiting of him to be eaten up inside by his own conscience, and it bothers him so much that he will finally get out there and talk and condemn the likes of Graham and McCain and Cheney and say something to the effect of "Who the hell are you to be out there giving any kind of advice on how we should be handling Iraq?"

(5,178 posts)It only takes a little green fertilizer carefully shoveled into corporate political mouthpieces by them to spur another round of fear and arms build-up. All they have to do is frame it as protecting Americans and we can assist whatever indigenous population they say needs our special form of assistance.
Those "wars" are always about corporate financial interests and securing those interests to make them and the investors they represent happy. I can't imagine they have ever been happier.
