Jack Hoffman's battle with cancer took a difficult turn this week.
Hoffman, 8, who has become a part of the Husker family in recent years, was first diagnosed with pediatric brain cancer three years ago. In a post to the Caring Bridge website on Wednesday, Hoffman's family said doctors have informed them that Jack's brain tumor has grown.
"Today we were humbly reminded that when your child has an inoperable brain tumor, that anything can happen at any point in time," Andy Hoffman, Jack's father, posted. "Despite Jack's tumor being declared in remission (stable) last October, today we learned that that is no longer the case."
Andy Hoffman reported that "Jack is doing great" and that the family remains optimistic. Treatment options are still being discussed, he wrote. "Regardless, it will include a second round of chemotherapy."

I send my hopes and prayers to Jack and his family during this hard time. I can only hope that Jack will pull through. I've been a Husker fan since I moved to Nebraska in 1980, and through all the tradition of the program, the great teams, and all, Jack getting to play in that spring game and score was the best Husker highlight of my lifetime.
Not the victory but the action;
Not the goal but the game;
In the deed the glory.
