and it seems that there are no significant new developments over the past day or so. It's pretty clear that the "job fairs" have been a terrible failure, and I've heard a couple of news reports that are finally getting the message that this is a customer boycott as much as an employee protest. So proud of my 78-year-old mom who shops at the New Bedford MB. She told me this morning that she hasn't been there since Artie T. was let go and won't return unless he's brought back. "It's the principle of the thing," she said. Go, Mom! Go MB!

This can't go on much longer, or the entire value of the company will be destroyed. My one concern is that they will play the game that Caldor did about fifteen years ago (I'd worked in the corporate office for five years at the time) when they made all kinds of noise about coming out of bankruptcy, then brought in Warren Feldburg to squeeze as much cash out of the properties as he could. Made a handful of people very, very wealthy and put 26,000 associates, including me and my husband, out of work. I hope for a better outcome here.

My route takes me by 3 MBs and there were literally NO cars in the lots today...maybe 5 or 6. Never seen anything like this. And so far, no unions. Just found out the Gov Deval Patrick's wife is an attorney for the bad Artie. No wonder he is quiet about this whole thing.

In other circumstances, I think he'd be much more vocal and involved, and I still think that as Governor, he should at least encourage solutions. The conflict of interests is concerning.

Cheers to your mother and all of the other MB shoppers who are boycotting. I wish that I still lived in Boston so that I could do the same!

Jacked up prices, because they're back to being the only game in town, for the moment (Sagamore)

As for Shaw's? I'm not that hungry. Yet.
