Remember, it takes 20 to 30 years worldwide to bring the most evil, vicious dictators to justice unless they conveniently lose the war. It took over 30 years to get Pinochet, for instance.

The neocons still hold considerable power in government. It will likely take another 15-20 years of retirements and deaths to break their grip.

Patience, friends. I won't live to see it, but if we can avoid a world war, I fully expect the lot of them still alive to finish those lives surrounded by grey walls and razor wire.

The admission of torture as an established fact was the first step on a long road.

Justice delayed is justice denied, and I see a rather large can being kicked further down the road.

"Patience," my ass. They'll all be dead or granted immunity by the time all this is over unless we all remember how to get angry once again and demand accountability.

To a T, I think. There is always another perspective to understand, whether one agrees with it or not. Allowing others the dignity of their perspective, however viscerally it may go against the grain, has its virtues. In a debate setting its often a necessary tactic to begin a discussion, and you can't "win" a discussion that never gets started.

Even a former community organiser who campaigned with heart felt intentions to change the way the country and the world are run for the better, ends up being corrupted by the power of the U.S presidency.

Using the drone program to decide who lives and who dies anywhere around the world without even needing to have tested evidence was the first step in Obama being corrupted by the power of the presidency.

Now Obama can sit there with a straight face and tell people to not get too sanctimonious about the torture committed by the previous administration because they are really patriots who carried it out because they were scared.

Imagine using that despicable logic to defend Assad's use of torture on the Syrian people, or North Korea's use of torture on their people?

Oh that's right, American torturers are really patriots who are acted under duress (because you know America is exceptional) YET any other torturers in the world are just evil men who delight in causing pain (because you know, other countries are not as exceptional as the U.S)
