What do you think about letting strangers know your politics?

For example, putting political bumper stickers on your rides or wearing political t-shirts. Do you/would you do that?

Not on my car. I live in a very red part of a red state. I've known people that have had their cars vandalized. I'm seriously in love with my car. The only time I had one on was a magnet. I'd take it off when I got out of the car.

The assholes are too chicken shit to say anything to my face, so shirts, buttons, etc. are not a problem.

Who have 2 cars to choose from in order to make quota. I would rather not give them the reason to do so. I would rather wear a T-Shirt than have my car a target for the crazies, or the cops. At least a T-Shirt gives you the chance to speak your mind back.

I'm not the bumper sticker type, and I've never thought about political t shirts.

But if some asshole starts spouting right wing crap at me, he's going to get an earful.

Free Pussy Riot Now! sticker (haven't removed it because I'm still pissed at Putin and who knows when they'll land in jail again?)

I'm in a very red area of AZ and I've never had any troubles.

I had the good fortune to have to supervisors for six years who were Democrats, but positions before and since I've not been as lucky.

I am wary enough not to start them, but chime in if I stumble into one ongoing...

my old boss was a moderate republican, vaguely admitting to "not voting straight ticket" (ie voting for Obama), but we could keep it quiet and civil at all times. we still grab a meal together every month to this day...

I just got a compliment about it a few weeks ago! A man with a cane was going into the convenience store as I was getting in my car. He pointed his cane to my sticker and said "I like your bumper sticker"!

Thanks for the poll Jamaal!

Political T-shirt, to me that's asking for fights. If you're up for a fight with a wingnut, cool. I'd rather not. YMMV.

But I live in a blue city, in a blue state, and work in a blue organization. My risk is very low. Okay, non-existent. Even so, I don't make it obvious on resumes or job applications (for example I'm deliberately vague about political organizing).

I wouldn't wear any T-shirts to work as there are more than a few rednecks who work with me.

Then there was the case where an anti-war sweatshirt I had on raised the eyebrows of my priest.

Well it is kind of hard for me to imagine a person who believes that the world can be made into a better place through the right kind of political action not feeling some degree of obligation to try to convince others of the rightness of their cause or causes.

When it's just to stir shit, or when it is likely to do more harm than good, no.

Of course, I was raised with this social norm: Religion and politics are not acceptable topics for social conversation.

Had my car sprayed once over a pro-Clinton sticker. Had tires cut twice.
The South (in certain places) is not civilized yet for civilized conversation.
I plan to move soon and my actions will change.
