People Are Crowdfunding To Put “Sean Hannity Is An Idiot” Billboards In US Airports
Author: Kerry-Anne August 4, 2014 8:06 am

A project set up on crowdfunding platform StartJoin to fund billboards stating that “Sean Hannity is an idiot” in US airports has raised hundreds of dollars in its opening days.

The project states:

Our plan is simple. We want to put billboards up in LAX, JFK, and ORD, {Los Angeles, New York's JFK and Chicago's O'Hare International airports} that read: “Sean Hannity is an Idiot” .. it will have his face on it, so people from all over the world, in three of the busiest places in the world, can learn what idiocracy looks like. We want Hannity to be the poster boy for stupid; his image synonymous with dumb, so help people understand that this fool is not to be taken seriously.

The project’s owner Sean Fahey argues:

“Hannity is a sensationalist of the worst degree, in that he thinks he is reporting the news”

He continues that allowing Hannity a credible platform is dangerous, because people will form their opinions and take actions based on the nonsense and hatred that Hannity pushes out as factual news.

The project offers no perks or rewards to those who donate, stating simply that:

“Your reward is knowing you are able to help lambast a parasite”

It takes $7,000 to hire a billboard in a US airport, so the project is seeking to raise that as a minimum. The more money is raised, the more billboards will go up across the country. The project is already well on the way to its first $1,000.

For $7,000, how long can you keep your billboard up? A week? A month? A year? tularetom Aug 2014 #1

I'm all for it if it will be able to stay up there awhile.

If it happens it will probably be the subject of a defamation lawsuit (unlikely to succeed since he probably actually is an idiot in clinical terms) and lots of attempts at destruction or damage from right wing trolls. The fun part is that if they are caught in the act, and why wouldn't they be in someplace as busy as an airport, they can be prosecuted for vandalism.

Holler at me when the message is going to the general public and I'll ponder the benefits, seems like pissing money away completely as formulated.
