"When Is Genocide Permissible?"

In what will hopefully be the zenith of neofascism in Israel, the Times of Israel published an op-ed titled “When Genocide is Permissible.” The post, written by Yochanan Gordon, called for ethnically cleansing the Palestinian population ending with the question “If political leaders and military experts determine that the only way to achieve its goal of sustaining quiet is through genocide is it then permissible to achieve those responsible goals?”

The Times of Israel eventually took Gordon’s post down.....

THE SAME SHOULD BE SAID OF TORTURE!

In Azania - South Africa we have similar genocidal sentiments being expressed by hangers on of racial apartheid,
who resent majority rule and are demanding the country be split so that an all White state can be set up.
Recently in the Guardian Liberty Voice under an article entitled
"South Africa White Genocide Escalates: International Groups Seek Solution"
Lious July 9, 2014 at 12:06 pm said,
"Most nations like the Americans and Australians took care of their savages and did what was necessary to ensure a safe and civilized society.
Over here they preferred to live and let live with disastrous consequences. Our land is cursed and only God can help us now." Those who harbor such sentiment have already resorted to terrorism to meet their aims,
now posing right wing racists as "victims" of an unfair democracy.
A democracy in which most White folk are not trying to overthrow the state or split the country in two. In December the Boeremag (Farmer Force) were jailed for trying to bomb Nelson Mandela and start a race war, where all "non Whites" would be expelled and an all White state set up. I've read several DU threads lately on the I/P conflict. There has been considerable outrage, including comparisons of the current Israeli actions to Nazi atrocities. These are met with accusations of anti-Semitism.

Well now we have an Israeli media outlet printing the opinion of an Israeli claiming: A) it is not possible for force to be disproportionate, B) genocide is permissible at times and C) genocide is on the table in the current conflict.

Openly calling for genocide is far beyond contemptible. He squarely puts the onus on the will of Israeli 'political leaders and military experts', not just his own despicable notions. This guy thinks he is simply taking current Israeli political thinking to its "logical" conclusion.

As far as this blogger's sentiments go, I feel elements of the Third Reich comparison are valid. Charged words, I know, but the comparison has been all over DU for a while now. After all, Hitler felt the Jews were culturally contaminating the upstanding people of Deutschland. He felt it was necessary to offer protection. Genocide was his prescription as well.

Pointing out that this guy is wrong, and that the comparison is valid is not anti-Semitic. No more so than comparing the attempted genocide in Darfur or Rwanada to the Nazi's 'final solution'.

It is beyond time for all involved to take a BIG step back.

Great OP, though unfortunate.

I basically just read DU and rarely post. I have read and agreed with many of your posts over the years.

Peace to all of us.
