Broward County judge delivers third win for marriage equality in Florida
Circuit Court Judge Dale Cohen issued the ruling Monday, which applies to recognition of out-of-state same-sex marriages, as well as overturning Florida’s ban on same-sex marriage, in Broward County only.

Monday’s ruling marks the third such decision in as many weeks striking down Florida’s same-sex marriage ban. Judges in Monroe and Miami-Dade counties made similar rulings last month, and both are also on hold pending appeals by the state.
“Every win in court brings us closer than we’ve ever been to the freedom to marry in Florida,” said Nadine Smith, CEO of Equality Florida. “We look forward to the day when all loving, committed couples and their families enjoy the same protections, opportunities and responsibilities of marriage under the law.”
