I was reading online about a lady and her family on Medicaid who turned down surgery and radiation. Medicaid now considers her "non compliant" and refuses to cover all but a certain percentage of medical care so she is now racking up bills. She said the law changed Jan 1st.
Is this real? Has anyone heard of this?

(14,255 posts)This summer West Virginia is launching a new experiment in health care. It will reduce health benefits for Medicaid recipients who fail to follow doctors' orders, or who use emergency rooms for non-emergency care. Kentucky is starting a similar program. Advocates say making patients more responsible for their own care will save money for the state.
There is a transcript.

(32,076 posts)So ACA compliance is waived? TF? Ya think mental health care is a LUXURY?!!!!! What could possibly go wrong?
Patients who don't live up to their member agreements won't have access to what the state is calling its enhanced benefit package. That means, for example, they won't be eligible for mental healthcare or diabetes care or more than four prescriptions per month.

Not that the policy isn't reactionary, essentially cruel, and wrongheaded because it is but she could be sitting in Indiana or many other state without shit to wrongheadedly take away.
Don't worry this malicious nonsense will start popping up with exchange and even commercial policies too when the "wellness benefit" time bombs start going off (Thanks TeaPubliKlan amendments and the fools who accepted them in exchange for obstruction and lies). Folks are going to love it when their multiplier goes up and they can't afford premiums much less to use their coverage.
