Cuomo Campaign "Volunteers" Harass Primary Opponent, Hide Faces and Threaten Media.

Last edited Mon Aug 4, 2014, 12:31 PM - Edit history (1)

And misrepresent themselves. Apparently they're connected to a Real Estate mega-bucks lobbying firm that is paying off ( excuse me: making campaign contributions to ) Quid Pro Cuomo's "Committee to Reelect".)

Quid Pro's people denied everything at first but sang like "boids" when cornered.

So... my question is this: do we want this guy as governor of NYS... and therefore -- by default-- a national DEM spokesman? Or should people around the country support gutsy primary opponent Professor Teachout? ( They can do this with a quick trip to her website.) Do we really want or need a "Democratic Nixon"?

From Business Insider

>>>The Cuomo campaign's admission of involvement in the protests came shortly after Business Insider informed operatives working on the campaign we had identified several of the protesters and uncovered evidence on social media linking them to the governor's political operation. The Cuomo campaign spokesperson said the volunteers protested at a press conference Teachout held Tuesday in Manhattan with Republican gubernatorial candidate Rob Astorino where they criticized Cuomo's ethics as well as at the event on Thursday.

"We don't have people at all the events," the spokesperson explained. "A few people went to the Astorino thing at City Hall there was a handful of folks there and I guess some people went to this Teachout thing."

Teachout's campaign manager Mike Boland said it wasn't "surprising" to discover the protesters were affiliated with Team Cuomo.

"I've never been protested by a group of protesters adhering to a strict dress code, so that seems about right," Boland said.

Boland also pointed to the Cuomo campaign's legal challenge to Teachout>>>>> more at link

1. Oh. And there's this:

>>>> Afterwards, we followed the protesters to determine their origins.

Our attempt ended with one of the protesters, a young man who carried an identification badge from a real estate firm that has donated to the governor and owns the building where the Cuomo campaign is headquartered, screaming, cursing and threatening us. The young man declined to discuss his reasons for protesting Teachout.

there's not a whole lot I can do about it. I just don't happen to have a few million around to fight him and his buddies. What makes it worse is that as a Democratic committeeman I'm supposed to be loyal, shut up, and support this miserable prick.

I'm hoping he really stepped in it with the Moreland commission, but, like Christie, he's slick enough to have insulated himself so there's no fire behind the smoke.

Ya know, with a lot of these guys I go along with the "nobody's perfect" angle and can forgive a lot of stuff, but Cuomo's just gone too far.

8. He's slicker than slick but his motor-mouth seems to have a mind of its own.

If he'd never said the Moreland Commission was allowed to investigate the governors office in the first place ( and he said it about 24 times) he wouldn't now be facing witness tampering and obstruction of justice investigations.

He's smart... but he's a fool.

9. Most other states have at LEAST two parties, don't they?

I mean two actual parties that can easily be distinguished from each other.

I don't see anything like that here.

"The average "corruption gap" annually per capita? $1,308.

"This implies that the nine most corrupt states could have spent $1,308 less annually per capita, on average, if they had succeeded in maintaining only an average corruption level," Liu and Mikesell write.

They called on policy makers to "pay close attention that public resources are not used for private gains of the few but rather distributed effectively and fairly for various purposes."

There are a LOT of people who will do *anything* for cash.

The Bloomberg era in NYC comes to mind. Some pundit ( Clyde Haberman?) described the crowd at one of his reelelction events as "rent-a-mob."

there still seems to be a tie between openly believing in nothing other than a slogan and violence: they're not violent for a purpose, but for whatever Candidate X declares

(I think Rahm's Chicago also has problems similar to this)
