Bill Clinton Eulogizes Richard Mellon Scaife: Nemesis, Then Friend

Bill Clinton on Saturday fondly memorialized one of the key financiers of what Hillary Clinton years ago deemed the “vast right-wing conspiracy.”

Speaking at a private memorial service in southwestern Pennsylvania for Richard Mellon Scaife, who died last month, Clinton recalled how, after his presidency, he built a “counterintuitive friendship” with the conservative billionaire, according to an account of the speech in one of the newspapers Scaife owned.

“He fought as hard as he could for what he believed, but he never thought he had to be blind or deaf” to other views, the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review quotes Clinton saying of its former publisher. A spokesman for Clinton declined to comment.

Scaife, who inherited a fortune from the Mellon banking and oil empire, steered millions of dollars to groups that savagely attacked the Clintons throughout the 1990s. Scaife backed media outlets and nonprofits that pushed scandal after scandal that buffeted the Clinton administration — from the Whitewater real estate controversy to the Paula Jones and Monica Lewinsky sex scandals to raising doubts about the deaths of Clinton aides Vince Foster and Ron Brown.

I keep thinking there's nothing that could lower my opinion of Bill Clinton any further and he always manages to do something to prove me wrong.

“Think about the outrageous things that were said about him, including by me, and he was able to overcome that and reach out to his critics and his adversaries and make them his friends and work together on the things we agree with,” Ruddy said. “It’s on the level of Nelson Mandela — that type of higher thinking and ability to forgive and forget, and it’s an example of how people who have partisan and ideological differences can work together for the common good.”

At Saturday’s memorial, which was held at the Ligonier, Pennsylvania, estate where Scaife grew up and which was attended by more than 100 employees of his media outlets, Clinton was presented with a photo of Hillary Clinton meeting with Scaife before the 2008 Pennsylvania primary.

And Ruddy predicted that her husband’s willingness to reach across the aisle will cause some major Republican donors who fought the Clinton administration alongside Scaife to be less hostile if Hillary Clinton runs for president in 2016.

There is a realization among high-level donors and sophisticated politicos on the Republican side that Hillary Clinton is a centrist Democrat who is pro-American business and is very strong on national security,” he said. “There is a sense that she and her husband share a similar worldview.”

Like he has with so many others, Clinton earned respect with his Foundation. And with Scaife, he got the last word. He showed he was bigger than everyone else involved. A true statesman... oh, and he proved once again he doesn't give a rat's ass what the Tiger Beat junior Progressive League thinks.

20. Mena Intermountain Municipal Airport
Mon Aug 4, 2014, 03:36 AM
Aug 2014

A number of allegations have been made about the use of Mena Intermountain Municipal Airport as a CIA drop point in large scale cocaine trafficking, beginning in the latter part of the 1980s. Several local, state, and federal investigations have taken place in relation to these allegations. The topic has received some press coverage that has included allegations of awareness, participation and/or coverup involving prominent figures such as Bill Clinton,[6][7][8][9] George H. W. Bush, George W. Bush, Governor Jeb Bush and Saline County prosecutor Dan Harmon (who was convicted of numerous felonies including drug and racketeering charges in 1997[10]). The Mena airport was also associated with Adler Berriman (Barry) Seal, an American drug smuggler and aircraft pilot who flew covert flights for the CIA and the Medellín Cartel.[11]

A criminal investigator from the Arkansas State Police, Russell Welch, who was assigned to investigate Mena airport[12][13] claimed that he opened a letter which released electrostatically charged Anthrax spores in his face, and that he had his life saved after a prompt diagnosis by a doctor.[who?] He also claimed that later, his doctor's office was vandalized, robbed, and test results and correspondence with the CDC in Atlanta were stolen.[11][14]

An investigation by the CIA's inspector general concluded that the CIA had no involvement in or knowledge of any illegal activities that may have occurred in Mena. The report said that the agency had conducted a training exercise at the airport in partnership with another Federal agency and that companies located at the airport had performed "routine aviation-related services on equipment owned by the CIA".[15]

controlled opposition?

So lets take this as face value. The CIA admitted they were there but the CIA found there was no wrong doing by the CIA.....'have we heard that before?

The anthrax story was way before 911 anthrax killings and was claimed to be weapons grade.
But the story pops up here true or not.

Iran contra was occurring

CIA running drugs to the US is well documented.

Clinton now eulogises his attacker.....
