This is really pretty unprecedented - they wind up in my various Google email folders - the updates, social and primary tabs - I've gotten them from president Obama, Biden, you name it - dozens and dozens of them. I don't remember an email wave of $$ requests like this so far in either of PO's terms...

(62,445 posts)I delete them and unsubscribe from them and it seems to generate more.
Plus the phone calls from all sorts of charities.
I have limited my donations to local candidates, FreeSpeechTV, and planned Parenthood. All others take a hike. When I get a call, I tell them that up front and give them a chance to hang up graciously before I drop the call.

(45,319 posts)The message is 'it is all about money, if you give us some you count, if you don't offer up a few thousand you do not exist and might as well not vote.'
For them, it is about money, that is all any of them care about.

(32,886 posts)the wording is silly and the attempts to make it seem personalized are pedantic.

It makes me feel like they have a lot of nerve.

(11,521 posts)On the one hand, yes, it's annoying and I generally just delete them. On the other hand I understand that it takes a lot of money to win elections (especially after Citizens United), and that Democratic candidates need donations from a large number of people to counter even a few GOPers with very deep pockets (Kochs, Rove, Adelson, etc.).

(31,464 posts)It's not new. I've donated to the DCCC and Democratic Party a few times, so I'm on the "hot list." Probably MOST of my e-mail each day is from some Dem I've never heard of (and many I have heard of) saying "GLOOM AND DOOM! WE'RE DOOMED! AMERICA IS OVER UNLESS YOU SEND $3 IN THE NEXT TEN MINUTES! OOOOHHHH, THE HORROR!" They're ridiculous. Basic marketing used to be that a 2% return on a mailing was a great response. I think now they just hope for a .2% return, so they send out a bazillion ads every day to everybody. I just delete them...it's not even worth the time to set up new filters anymore.

(2,331 posts)All the candidates ratchet up their demands because the last day of the month is when they tabulate what they've gotten for the FEC. it's annoying but easy enough to delete them till you're ready to give if you choose to do so.

(3,431 posts)as I do, although it is a waste of time. If they keep doing this, they will annoy people so much that they may lose votes.
