We just need a tube with a fan blowing some of that cool air down here to Texas.

In June I drove from south to north to south again -- up the 99 and down the 5. Mile after mile of agricultural land not being used because of lack of water, many streams and rivers completely dry. Camped one night on the King river which is usually full of boats in June. It was ankle deep. People were wading in the river. Saw abandoned farms, drooping orchards which were not being watered. The road side rest areas were not being watered. There is no water. Many angry signs.

And there were desperate signs pleading for water then! Hope this drought ends soon.

They are a bunch of crispy critters already. (hint: I'm joking, I was actually born there)

would try not to dumb things down so much. Explain WHY it's happening in MORE detail, but I guess that's asking too much. Sigh.

For anyone interested: Return of the Polar Vortex (the one in January)

but as you can see---the anchor only cared about what the weather would be next week. He tried to explain and she looked totally disinterested.

Her: *exasperated response because, yanno, this is not important* So what's the weather like for this week ?
Him: *realizes his boss doesn't care either* Um, oh yeah, it's going to be.....

I had forgotten about that exchange.

Maybe call it a desert vortex and get a heat wave in the upper 90's for two weeks in NYC? Please?

I can't wait until Halloween and what passes for fall down here in NC. That's usually when it stops being so freaking hot all the time. I noticed we'll have 60s at night next week. That will be somewhat nice, but not cool enough for my taste. I was born in the wrong area for my taste in weather. I overheat too easily and wonder why people wear jackets before it's cool enough to wear them yet.
