Alcohol co-relates with most of the worst life/social/economic problems and it's bad for your liver.

Root causes are probably more about how our culture really isn't healthy physically/emotionally, so lots of people are unhappy and can't/won't do anything about it, hence self-medication. In my experiences, alcohol is strongly associated with the most unhappy people.

Legalization is on the November ballot.

Meanwhile, Obama's DOJ is running around threatening state law-abiding dispensaries.

I've long been a proponant of treating pot exactly as we treat booze (age-restricted and a ban on driving while high but otherwise legal). For personal reasons, I'd rather have a pint of good beer but it does me no harm at all if my neighbour chooses to puff a spliff instead.
