As for the "holy protection" remark -- if her god has the ability to protect her kids on the ground, why didn't that deity do the same for the kids on the plane? I'll never understand this line of thinking.

"My deity thought that these kids here from the orphanage were worthy of protecting, while those kids in the plane who died were not."
It's disrespectful to the people who die when people insinuate that others were special enough to receive protection from the deity, but those who died were not.
