Dana Milbank thinks Elizabeth Warren is too smart to be president

Excerpt from Milbank's column in today's Washington Post:

Watching Warren combine her encyclopedic knowledge of the regulatory system with her three decades of experience as a professor, it was difficult to picture her launching a long-shot bid for the presidency.

Hmmm, knowledge and experience are bad traits if you want to be president? So if that's true, I guess that Sarah Palin or Louis Gohmert would make great presidents.

There is more to the column than just this statement. But most of it is just as dumb. Nonetheless, Mr. Milbank has to fill up space twice a week whether or not he has anything sensible to say.

It is about raw power. Who has it and who has it absolutely?

In America today, Sarah Palin and Louis Gohmert, just like George W Bush, would make the perfect President. They are easily persuaded and are malleable to the ideas of the rich and powerful.

they would be aberrations. We have lost control of our government. We are owned by the wealthy and the corporations and it will take more than any one person to change it. I have become too cynical even for DU...

it's a real possibility that Chris Christie or Mitt Romney could end up in the White House. It would be the last gasps of a dying empire.

He's (supposedly) left of center which makes his remarks even worse. Having the Republican Party of Dumb is bad enough. We don't need a Dem leaning columnist adding fuel to the flames of ignorance.

Milbank doesn't draw any of the conclusions you attribute to him. It's just a short character study, comparing senator Warren's behavior to Obama's at a similar point in their respective careers. Dog forbid a columnist should actually speculate about the nature of political ambition.

I don't think he's saying that's how it should be, but we sure talk about who we'd like "to have a beer with" more than "who really knows what the hell they're talking about."
