A President cannot do it alone...

He/she needs an economic team and a Treasury Secretary that has an economic plan to make our tax system fair and just. He/she needs a team that will put the working class over the corporate class.

He/she needs a Defense Secretary that will change the way our military is used as an arm of the oil and corporate interests around the world. We are not the world's policeman.

He/she needs a "true" Democratic House and Senate to pass his agenda. Most of all, he/she needs the people behind him. If any of these pieces are missing, then not much of anything can be done.

If any person is running for President, simply for the title, then they are not worthy of the office. Just my opinion.

As for the Presidency itself, someone here (sorry, don't recall who it was) posted a bit about Romney that was spot on chilling, asserting that he wanted the office but not the job. In other words, the Presidency was like a trophy he could display with others on his mantle, it was thing to be won. It was a prize, not a job.

A president appoints all that team you mention except for Congress, so if the president does not have an economic team and Treasury Secretary that has an economic plan to make our tax system fair and just, that puts the working class over the corporate class...does not have a Defense Secretary that will change the way our military is used as an arm of the oil and corporate interests around the world...an Education Secretary that puts America's students over the corporate "reformers," and so on...

Whose fault is that?

... do not think about their Cabinet or "team" until they win the office? That is why Obama settled on Tim Geithner at Treasury, in my opinion. And Bob Gates at Defense, ie.

If that's true, then Obama clearly "settled" for crap in just about every instance.

Arne Duncan, for example. Linda Darling-Hammond was supposedly on his short list. Either he was too clueless to know the difference, or the picks were intentional. I don't think he was clueless.

He doesn't get it both ways.

make a difference because he genuinely wanted to. And he thought that he would have people on both sides wanting some of the same things. His background did not fully prepare him for the intensity of the racism that is in America. Little did he dream that half of the Congress and half of the Senate would be plotting and swearing to his demise as he was sworn in a CIC. The GOP began a relentless campaign to turn the military, the media, and main street Americans against him. And it has worked so well they are even amazed.

Though he has had insurmountable opposition, this President has made history in almost all aspects of his job. But, the success of the opposition campaign has still worked to hurt us all.

Anyone that is thinking of running for President should be on the phone daily with his "Kitchen Cabinet" discussing how to solve the problems in front of us. Raising money simply for the sake of raising money accomplishes little if there is not a message and a vision behind it.
