Some vindication for Chris Kluwe

MINNEAPOLIS — The Minnesota Vikings will suspend special teams coordinator Mike Priefer without pay for three games this season and donate $100,000 to LGBT rights groups, in response to former punter Chris Kluwe’s allegations of anti-gay slurs and taunts made by Priefer.

The Vikings released Friday a summary of the investigation by outside lawyers that was initiated in January, when Kluwe first accused Priefer and other Vikings officials of punishing him for his support of gay marriage. Kluwe was let go last year, which he argued was because of his views.

The Vikings said the move was strictly performance-based after they drafted Jeff Locke in the fifth round and Kluwe was due to make $1.45 million in the 2013 season.

The Vikings said Priefer’s ban could be reduced to two games at their discretion, provided he attends individualized anti-harassment, diversity and sexual-orientation sensitivity training.

I wonder if he'll drop it. Actually, I wonder if he will pursue legal action against the Vikings.

2. Yeah, but I'm very disappointed that the punishment was so slight in comparison to the crime.

I mean, he said he wanted to kill all gay people.

That's pretty extreme.

And, he'll only be suspended for two games if he attends "sensitivity training."

"The Vikings said the move was strictly performance-based after they drafted Jeff Locke in the fifth round and Kluwe was due to make $1.45 million in the 2013 season."

Comments made by Priefer aside, there is no way that a 32-year old punter, especially one with his history of injuries, is worth that kind of money. There are too many great college punters that go undrafted who would likely do just as well on the field.

if they're acknowledging, and confirming, Priefer's behaviour as described by Kluwe, then Priefer should be banned from football.

2 or 3 game suspension. That'll teach him!

What a joke.
