NFL Coach Expresses Desire to Kill Millions of People. Suspended for a few games as punishment

http://www.startribune.com/local/267734931.html?page=all&prepage=1&c=y

The Vikings have suspended special teams coordinator Mike Priefer three games following their six-month investigation into accusations made by former punter Chris Kluwe that Priefer made anti-gay remarks in team meetings in the 2012 season.

Priefer, who apologized for his comments in a statement, must attend sensitivity training. If he meets that requirement, his suspension could be reduced to two games.

(snip)

In a January article on the website Deadspin.com, Kluwe said that Priefer remarked before a special teams meeting: “We should round up all the gays, send them to an island, and then nuke it until it glows.”

That people cannot seem to live their own lives and worry about themselves without thinking they need to shove their beliefs and ideology on others.
So many people in this country need to live and let live. Repuicans need to mind their own damn business.

1. If you are of use to the team, you get the "everyone makes mistakes and we are working through it" routine with "sensitivity training."

2. If you are of no use to the team, you get fired/released and the people who fired you make sure the public knows that they stand united with <whichever group of people have been insulted>.

keep all the gay sex for himself.

There's always that element in anti-gay speech. As in, all the preachers and politicos who railed against it then got caught themselves.

I had a friend in law school from a rural are who denied, if asked, that he was gay until several years after he graduated. I don't think he admitted it to himself.

Various persons polled in my state's rural areas state they have never met a gay person. Yes they have, but they don't realize it and 'hate them gays'.

where people say completely over the top things that they think sound macho. They never consider what it might sound like in the outside world. The NFL is a place where anti-gay people like Tony Dungy are praised and brought in by teams to help with "sensitivity." The statement is the kind of thing you expect to hear in a high school locker room and sadly many in football never escape that mentality because well... they never had to before. All signs are the NFL is for the first time taking harassment seriously and statements not acceptable in any other workplace will no longer be tolerated in the NFL. All we can do is see what effect the policy has. I think it is clear why people utter these pseudo-macho things, it is a high adrenaline job where everyone lacks guaranteed contracts, your one losing season from losing your job, and false bravado is commonly thought to "build" character and everyone hides behind this false oneness with the team, a team that doesn't care about you at all, and the fact everyone is not as macho as they pretend to be is to be hidden at all costs. The overall fear in the NFL is they won't think your macho enough and thus you'll be out of work tomorrow. Perhaps a stronger union would help but...

Pretty much any situation where there requires any sort of real communication or nuance, it's a matter of "just shoot 'em all" when it comes to things he doesn't like. Doesn't matter the context, etc, it all comes down to just simple violence upon others.

Sadly, he thinks he's being cute and funny when he says it.

This crap isn't funny! He should be fired. Sounds like torture having to listen to this lover of mass murder. Wonder what the special teams members have anything to say about this.

Guess people have forgotten WW2 and the Holocaust and that it didn't just end with those they didn't like. So they will have to learn the whole thing all over again, the hard way, huh.
