ACLU: Women Don't Care About Contraception?

Haley's disingenuous backpedal was pretty much turning the issue on its head.

Posted by Jennifer Dalven, Reproductive Freedom Project at 12:31pm

On ABC's The View, the governor of South Carolina, Nikki Haley, said that women don't care about contraception. News to me. Here, all along I thought, women (and men) care very much about contraception. I thought American women and families cared very much about being able to decide whether and when to have a child. Shows what I know.

When pressed, the governor tried to backpedal, saying that maybe women cared about birth control, but we don't need government making that decision for us. I am sorry, I missed it. Exactly which government policy is telling women they have to use birth control? Here I thought we were talking about government making sure that women had insurance coverage for birth control and allowing a woman and her partner to decide for themselves about using it. Silly me.

Surely she's a user of birth control.

And, when she said the we don't need the government making that decision for us, hey Nikki, THAT'S EXACTLY THE POINT. Women want to make those decisions for themselves, by themselves, perhaps with some input from a doctor and maybe their partner.

a particularly infuriating tactic of the rw wackos. I guess they don't want the government to come between your private birth control discussions between you and your boss.

Many male employees cover their wives under their insurance plan. If a male employee is submitting contraceptive coverage for his wife, would he get fired to?

That would be an interesting case for these sexist employers.
