Pit Bull Saves His Owner's Life By Taking A Bullet To The Head

http://www.buzzfeed.com/mjs538/pit-bull-saves-his-owners-life-by-taking-a-bullet

And here's what happened...

From the NY Post:

The dog's owner, Justin Becker, 32, shoved the thug to the ground, and pushed the door into his body — jamming the gunman as he lay halfway inside the apartment.

That’s when Kilo sprang into action.

“My dog stuck his head out the door, and then [the thug] shot him in the head,” Becker said. The coward then ran off."

Becker’s girlfriend, Nicole Percoco, thought there was no way Kilo would survive.
“Hold him in your arms. Let him die in your arms,” she told him. But Becker refused to give up on his best friend.

“I’m not going to let him die,” he said.

Kilo was taken to the hospital and miraculously survived.

It's probably necessary, but NO dog likes one of those lampshades. I always feel safer with a dog in the house. I had to go two years without one and it was creepy. I wish Kilo well.

Pit bulls' reputations have been ruined by dogfighters who breed the dogs for aggression, and drug dealers who use those animals as weapons.

I've seen for myself the loyalty of a pittie, even though I personally would not get one. It's not the dog; it's the owner.

My brother was working on a friend's Florida room and had the dog with him. The back door was open. A cat ran by the open door and Easy (my dog) ran out after it, caught and killed it. The dog hated cats. The neighbor was a cop. He ran into his house, grabbed his gun and shot the dog. Fortunately, my brother got Easy to the vet immediately and he survived the gunshot wound. Pit bulls are tough dogs.

It's possible he could recognize the punk's scent if they cross paths again.

Two weeks ago the neighbor's pit suddenly came over our 6ft high backyard fence and savagely killed our dog right in front of my wife and son. Kinu was an adorable and sweet, long-haired chihuahua-papillion mix we rescued from the shelter a little over a year ago. The other day while my wife, son, and Kinu were in the backyard, the neighbor's dog decided to do it's thing.

I hear a lot about "bad pit bull owners", but I gotta tell you, the pit was a new puppy when the neighbor moved in behind us, and never once did I see or hear him mistreat that dog. No training, no beating, not even bad scolding. I believe he was a "good owner".

I've learned it doesn't matter how sweet your dog is with you. All pets are sweet until they're not. They are still animals, with animal instincts that can be triggered unexpectedly. Owners of "aggressive breeds" need to stop trying to convince themselves and others that their dogs are no different than any other. They are. More than once I've read the strangely proud refrain "My dog won't start the fight, but he'll sure as hell finish it!". What a weird and confused sentiment; "My dog's a sweetheart and a badass killer!".

Bottom line: All dogs can be sweet and loving, and all dogs can get set off. The difference is some dogs can and will kill when it happens. Pit Bull owners need to accept that as reality and factor it into their responsibilities.

than the pit that lives behind us. The poodle want's to rip my sheltie's head off. The pit? He just wants to play.

Dog owners need to accept that ALL dogs have it within them to kill...and factor THAT into their responsibilities.

Again, I am sorry you lost your dog. how horrible for you.

on a slightly different note, I'm thinking of the toddler that harassed and harassed my Pom, Weenie, a long time ago. I tried to get the kid away, but you know how it's weird trying to set a boundary with a kid that's not yours....you don't know how far to go--and the *ahem* parents*ahem* were right there, not bothered at all that their kid was tormenting my baby!! They just sat on their asses doing nothing.

Then when Weenie finally nipped at the brat, his fatsh*t father yelled at ME!

Dipsh*t!!

He literally threw one of the kittens (they are full grown now) full force at the ceiling from a top bunk.
Now they are constantly wondering why I didn't get the cats declawed. My response? They need some form of defense against your son.

People are idiots.

That is tragic.

Everyone should learn more responsibility.....
and unforeseen things happen, too......

you're right, many people totally have that mentality, "My dog won't start the fight, but he'll sure as hell finish it!" and clearly get off on it. I never thought of this before.

About a month ago a neighbors boxer came into my yard and killed my little Shi Tzu. My wife and daughter came home in time to see the end of it, too late

Something you said in your post sticks out. "no training". Training is vital to any dog, and the boxer that killed my little dog has had zero training. Plus, she hasn't been spayed and that's never a good thing.
