COWARD: Darrell Issa Abruptly Ends Hearing Before Witness Can Debunk His White House Attacks

Darrell Issa Abruptly Ends Hearing Before Witness Can Debunk His White House Attacks

..............

So what happened?

A Cummings aide said he had no warning the hearing would be cut off before anyone could testify, and said there was no reason for doing so.

A request for comment from Issa's office was not returned.

But two things were apparent to those following the hearing: First, Issa began the hearing irritated that the White House had dismissed his subpoena to compel Obama's political office director, David Simas, to testify. He called it "deeply disturbing" that White House counsel Neil Eggleston said Simas was immune from a congressional subpoena. Second, and perhaps more tellingly, Issa may have wanted to prevent Lerner from testifying since, based on the written testimony she provided ahead of the hearing, she was planning to say the White House Office of Political Strategy and Outreach had done nothing inappropriate, which contradicted Issa's claims leading up to the hearing.

Lerner's shop is charged with enforcing the federal Hatch Act's prohibitions against federal employees engaging in political activity, which makes her the go-to person in the event of allegations of wrongdoing by the White House political office. She was prepared to tell the committee she did her homework and found nothing wrong.

It's a mystery to me why the popular media lend any credence at all to this clown. I don't think Issa has forgotten how the Bush administration told Congress to go piss up a rope time and again when Congress was exercising some legitimate oversight on alleged crimes against humanity. The Bush administration invoked "executive privilege" for practically anything it didn't want to discuss with Congress.

Now, several years later, Issa is apparently confounded that the Obama administration doesn't want to play the windmill for his endless tilting. Perhaps he's counting on the public forgetting the Bush administration (fat chance) or that the popular media will fall for his posturing (which they've done over and over). I admire Rep. Cummings, though. I long ago would have throat-punched the little fucker for his pettifogging ways.

But even I know what an abhorrent, self aggrandizing, worthless piece of over chewed gum stuck under the desk Issa is. What perplexes me the most however is why Dems and the press (well I have a vague idea abut the "press&quot aren't hammering this waste of oxygen into the ground like a railroad spike. Issa is the very definition of a rogue operative, and that he carries on with absolute impunity is an indictment of how dysfunctional system has become.

I won't say I hate Issa because he doesn't deserve that much emotion. I do however loathe him immensely.

Arguably the largest waste of oxygen in Congress to return all tax money he has wasted on worthless show hearings. He should either do what he was elected to do or get the hell out of Congress.

And they're cheering him on, and he knows it. I don't have the intestinal fortitude to visit (or even Google for) any intertube places where they actually do this, but I also have no doubt one could find plenty.

Knuckle-dragging booger-eaters would rather see their tax money thrown down the toilet than used for anything purposeful. Because--you know--president with a strange name and a different skin color. Really depressing, but that's America these days.

We're headed for Idiocracy if people don't wake up and throw these guys out.

Issa has done the exact same thing to Cummings? I didn't read the linked article, (sorry, time constraints) but I recall Issa shutting it down -- actually shutting off Cumming's mike to prevent debate during a committee meeting. Maybe 6 months ago? Isn't there a way to shut HIM down from these unAmerican tactics?

Ooops, my mistake! So lest imminent testimony prove embarrassing, their new purpose would be to preclude the disclosure of information that might run contrary to the political agenda that is being but forth by the committee chairman and his party.

I truly appreciate and agree with all the venom directed at him in this thread. I've posted stuff in the CA group about Dave Peiser, who's challenging Issa, and have said Issa should at the top of the list to be drummed out of the House. He's the worst of the worst no matter where you live.

PLEASE send Dave a few bucks. Cantor is gone, Issa should be next.

He learned that the Reagan administration made a ruling that Congress could not force a prosecutor to bring charges and he was unaware of this. He really isn't very smart and does not prepare for his hearings.

And he is wasting out money by being unqualified.
