Gov. Dave Heineman greeted veterans from four different wars today at the Eastern Nebraska Veterans Home in Bellevue, giving them a special military veteran recognition for their driver’s licenses.

A new state law allows Nebraska military veterans to have the word “Veteran” printed in bold red letters on the bottom center of their licenses or state identification cards.

Heineman said the step gives Nebraskans more chances to celebrate veterans.

“They want to say thank you to you,” Heineman told the crowd. “They want to show their appreciation. This is a way for them to know.”

In fact, Maine has about 8 or 9 different license plates. At least that is what I have counted so far. I live in Boston, but go up to Maine on the weekends sometimes.

have in very small print "Armed Forces" on them if you show your DD214 to DMV when getting license.
