(6,278 posts)The main reason we have a refugee crisis on our hands is that we DO "catch" a very large proportion of the people fleeing violence in Central America.
I suppose had they lived in France south of Paris in 1940 they'd be eager to take up arms against Parisians "invading" the countryside in the face of the Nazi advance.

(15,031 posts)First time I've seen someone invoke Godwin's Law to derail their own defense.
I'll repeat what I've said countless times in the past: People need to learn better metaphors than simple knee-jerk reliance on Nazis and Hitler. Why, a reference to Fredricksburg would fit so much better here, or an allusion to any number of Native American defenses against the sea-pirates who so bedeviled them. But no, the immediate motion was to Nazism, and in it these morons come off even stupider than usual.
