Pointing that out to the OP doesn't mean that one won't be signing the petition.

(35,290 posts)by now that a cynical response right out of the gate often kills or hijacks a thread - the OP'er is just trying to get something done here and didn't mean to marginalize injustices happening in this country

Pointing out how badly the U.S. treats children on a daily basis SUPPORTS action; it doesn't detract.
