The game "matters" in as much as home field is up for grabs,

The standing O when Jeter left was great. I effing hate the Yankees, but even I got a little choked up. Jeter is a class act.

humble & polite. He was raised right. It's been fun watching his career. He really is a nice guy. It's not an act. Very rare.

It's a game. It's not even a game that "matters," not that any baseball really matters. If a well-loved guy was given a good exit from the game, then good for Wainwright.

I was really tired of the Jeter lovefest. He should have retired at least two years ago.

He probably needed the extra money for all the giftbags.

Now that Rivera's number is in the rafters, and Jeter's is soon to follow, do the Yankees have anyone good?

It wouldn't surprise me if MLB figured out yet another way to keep A-roid off the playing field.

The Police vs. Fireman slow pitch softball game has more value than an all-star game.
