"class warfare" for a long time. So what. Every time I have that thrown at me, I remind the person who is waging this class warfare. And it isn't us.

Sounds like you put more time into thinking of a comeback than POTUS.

Really? So "let's pretend it isn't there" what?

I don't think you get it, at least I'm giving you the benefit of the doubt (no I'm not).

rather than a dismissal of the fact that "class warfare" DOES exist.

Like if someone starts yelling "class warfare" and one responds "Yeah? That's what you ALWAYS say. Is that the best response you got?"

(For all its brilliance, the Internet still an imperfect vehicle for communication.)

I didn't even have a clue what the problem with my post was, but I can see it now. You are right that it meant I have heard this for at least a few years now, every time we talk about income inequality. Every time, all the time.

“It was clear in 2013 that income inequality was the top narrative for the White House, but they abruptly switched away from it,” said Jim Kessler, senior vice president for policy at Third Way, a centrist Democratic think tank that has advised the White House and Democrats to avoid excessive populism. “Income inequality seems like it’s on the back burner now — at least in terms of their rhetoric.”

The shift hints at a broader repositioning of Democratic messaging ahead of the midterm elections and, perhaps, the 2016 presidential race. House and Senate strategists and their pollsters have concluded that they should focus less on the wealth gap and more on emphasizing that all Americans should have economic “opportunity” to get ahead or a “fair shot.”

“Both the White House and the Senate agreed that the decline of middle-class incomes was the most serious issue we face in this country, but the focus had to be on how to get middle-class incomes up, rather than drive other people’s incomes down,” said Sen. Charles E. Schumer (N.Y.), the messaging chief for Senate Democrats.

This could've come from John Oliver's brilliant expose about American unwillingness to accept that they will not win the lottery... here we have Democrats making the same statement Rubio makes in the video. American exceptionalism means exceptionally gullible - but you have to be a pretty greedy fucker to be so gullible, you know... I mean, you have to be really optimistic!

Get your smelling salts and position yourselves near your fainting couch, because this is probably going to knock some folks for a real loop, but the Republicans and the yammerers are going to whine about any Democratic proposal to make the system work for more citizens. They will scream about "class warfare" when the looters and the robber barons are politely asked about paying an extra three cents on the dollar in taxes on their profiteering ways. They will scream "class warfare" when someone suggests the wealthiest nation in the world should be able to feed, clothe and house its citizens. They will go apoplectic over "class warfare" when it is observed that we do a patently shitty job of training and educating the next generation of working people. They will stroke out about "class warfare" when someone ruminates publicly that maybe a permanent overclass of inherited wealth isn't the highest and best use of our society.

When you have recovered sufficiently from the vapors, please try to ignore the yammering from the overrich and their popular media lackeys.
